FabLab Terres de l’Ebre once again proves it is not just any space. For the third consecutive year, its project on food waste, LECO, has made it into the top ten out of more than 600 proposals at the national level. A milestone that does not go unnoticed for an initiative that has already become a sustainability benchmark in the Terres de l’Ebre region.

The Audi Crea competition, known for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, holds its grand final in Barcelona on June 26 and 27. At stake is a training scholarship including a trip to the United States, a reward that makes every vote potentially decisive.

The LECO project and its fight against waste

What is LECO and why does it stand out?

LECO, which stands for Organic Circular Economy Laboratory, is an initiative designed to reduce food waste. The proposal not only seeks to prevent food loss but also advocates for efficient and sustainable management of organic resources, an issue that affects everyone and is becoming increasingly urgent.

Why is FabLab Terres de l’Ebre a benchmark?

Being a finalist three years in a row is no coincidence. The FabLab, managed by the Amposta City Council, has become a hub of innovative ideas linked to the circular economy. This positions it as a space where creativity and sustainability collide to offer real solutions to global problems, but with local impact.

How are the finalists chosen?

Out of more than 600 projects submitted, only ten reach the final. This is already a prize in itself, but now the fight is on to win the training scholarship, which will allow the winners to go even further, including the United States. The competition is one of the most prestigious in the national field of innovation and entrepreneurship.

What is at stake and when?

On June 26 and 27 in Barcelona, finalists will have to defend their projects. Besides the scholarship, public recognition and visibility can be key for future developments and funding. The tension is palpable, and the popular vote could be decisive in the event of a tie.
