The Titaranya wins the Maria Figueras Social Action Award
Imagine a space where solidarity and social innovation meet to transform lives. Yesterday was one of those days you remember: La Titaranya received an award that endorses its tireless work in favor of the most vulnerable people.
With over 54 nominations, the Maria Figueras and Mercè Bañeras Social Action Awards focused on initiatives that make a difference in Catalonia. And not only that: these awards are a boost that encourages continuing to improve the quality of life for many.
The awards that recognize social action in Catalonia
An event full of meaning in Girona
The award ceremony was held at the La Farinera Auditorium, in the nerve center of Girona, a place that proudly hosted this 14th edition. Plataforma Educativa, the organization that has been promoting these awards since 1994, highlighted the work of entities and individuals who make real change possible.
The physical presence and collective celebration added a warm and human touch, essential in such a sensitive field as social action.
Winners who inspire
Out of more than 54 proposals, the jury recognized two very different but equally impactful initiatives:
- Social Innovation: Associació DOTA
- Social Entrepreneurship: La Titaranya
Additionally, the Citizen Co-responsibility award was given to Mr. Antonio Ortiz Leyba, who, despite not being able to attend, received a tribute for his exemplary career.
The role of Plataforma Educativa in social transformation
An organization with history and commitment
Plataforma Educativa is more than a name. Since 1994, this social economy initiative has brought together 11 non-profit organizations that work to improve the lives of people in vulnerable situations. With a budget of 59 million euros and 1,500 professionals, they serve 15,000 people each year.
These figures are not just data: they are lives changed, opportunities opened, and hopes renewed.
The awards as recognition and encouragement
The awards, with a prize of 3,000 euros, are presented by Jordi Pascual Pelach, director of the Plataforma Educativa Group, and David Álvarez Carreño, director of the Territorial Services for Rights and Inclusion in Girona. This institutional collaboration reinforces the social importance of the award and its impact on the community.
La Titaranya, an example of social entrepreneurship with soul
What is their proposal about?
La Titaranya not only stood out for receiving the award, but also for its active commitment to creating opportunities for people at risk of exclusion. Its social entrepreneurship model combines innovation, inclusion, and sustainability, a formula that has captured the attention of the jury and the public.
It is a space where ideas come to life to generate real impact, and that is precisely what the awards aim to highlight.
An impetus to keep moving forward
Receiving this recognition is also a responsibility. La Titaranya knows that its work is more necessary than ever, and this award will give them an extra boost to keep advancing.
Because, as in all social action, what really counts is tangible change in people's lives.
The reality is that these awards not only celebrate what has been done, but also encourage continuing to work for a fairer and more inclusive future. La Titaranya and the other awarded entities are an example that solidarity and innovation can go hand in hand to transform society.
