Skoda Kamiq is the success that has made the brand a star in Europe in 2026
If you thought Skoda was just the brand that made practical family cars, you’ll be surprised. Skoda has sneaked in as the second best-selling brand in Europe, surpassing companies that have been benchmarks for decades — and all this while launching electric models that are taking over the market.
This is neither a coincidence nor the result of a passing trend. The Kamiq, along with other models like the Elroq or the Enyaq, are key in this new era for the Czech brand, which hardly stops growing.
Skoda, the brand that went from bicycles to European records
Founded in 1895 as a bicycle repair shop, Skoda has become a sales giant in Europe. In just the first quarter of 2026, it sold 222,528 new vehicles including passenger cars and SUVs, a 15.7% increase compared to the previous year, while the entire market grew only 11.1%, according to ACEA.
Surpassing giants that seemed untouchable
For the first time, Skoda has left Toyota behind, which sold 219,664 units, and also surpassed BMW and Renault. Now, only Volkswagen — its parent company — holds the lead with 347,708 vehicles, but with a 5% drop. The numbers make it clear that Skoda is no ordinary guest at the party.
Record profit and financial solidity
Behind this commercial success are spectacular figures: 7.9 billion euros in revenue (+9.1%) and a record operating profit of 660 million euros (+20.9%) in just three months. The operating margin rose to 8.3%, and net cash flow reached 867 million euros, a figure that grew 64.4% compared to 2025. Klaus Zellmer, Skoda’s CEO, has no fear in acknowledging that this is a historic moment for the brand.
Electric and more electric: the key to the success of the Kamiq and company
The spearhead of growth is clearly the electric range. The Elroq and Enyaq models have become the best-selling in their category in Europe, with a spectacular 71.4% growth in electrified vehicles and almost 92% in pure electrics.
The Kamiq, an urban SUV that triumphs in Spain
In Spain, the Kamiq is Skoda’s crown jewel with 4,209 units sold in the first four months of 2026, an 18.5% increase. It’s not just a practical car, but it is helping the brand climb positions in a market where competition is fierce.
Catalan electric future: the new Epiq and the Peaq
2026 will also be the year of the Skoda Epiq, the first electric model manufactured in Spain, at the Volkswagen Navarra plant, with a range of more than 400 km and a price of around 25,000 euros. And it doesn’t stop there: the Skoda Peaq, an electric SUV with up to seven seats and more than 600 km of range, will be the new giant of the electric range.
How does all this translate in Spain?
Skoda is not only growing in Europe but is also in full expansion in Spain. With 15,512 units registered in four months, it grows 16.7%, more than double the market average. The brand ranks as the twelfth best-selling in Spain with a 3.8% market share.
Star models that maintain the pace
The Kamiq clearly leads, followed by the Fabia and the Karoq. Electrically, the Elroq has had a brutal 365% increase in Spain, ranking among the most demanded.
The challenge of the 'top 10'
With the launch of the Epiq, Skoda aims to enter the 'top 10' of brands in Spain, a goal that seems within reach thanks to the model’s competitive price and specifications.
The reality is that Skoda has managed to combine growth, efficiency, and a determined look to the electric future, making it clear that it is not just a brand for those who want a functional car, but a key player in today’s European market.
