Amposta tenders energy improvements for €1.7M in sports facilities
Amposta will allocate 1.7 million euros to renovate and optimize municipal sports facilities with a clear focus on energy saving and sustainability.
The Local Government Board approved on June 15 the project that will modernize the Sports Training Center, with measures that will directly impact the comfort of athletes and the reduction of the energy bill.
The four pillars of energy renovation
Photovoltaic installation and network connection
The project includes a 66.12 kW self-consumption photovoltaic solar plant on the roof of the EUSES Auditorium, which will be connected to the electrical grid to maximize renewable energy generation and reduce dependence on conventional systems.
In addition, the low voltage network between the different buildings of the Sports Training Center will be interconnected, improving energy management and internal distribution.
Lighting replacement and building improvements
The athletes' residence and the fencing room will see their existing lighting replaced by LED systems, which are much more efficient and durable.
The insulation of the residence’s roof will also be reinforced, aiming to increase thermal comfort and reduce the need for air conditioning, a detail that makes a difference in energy expenses.
Upgrade of air conditioning and swimming pool systems
Renovation of the air conditioning system
The athletes' residence will have a new air conditioning system that will replace the current one, which is more obsolete and less efficient, improving energy performance and user well-being.
It is one of the key actions to adapt the facilities to current and future needs.
Swimming pool improvement: dehumidification and filtration
The swimming pool facility will also be renovated with an updated dehumidification and filtration system that will ensure more efficient and sustainable operation.
This reduces costs and guarantees a better environmental quality in the space.
Funding and commitment to sustainability
European funds and institutional agreement
These works will be financed with 1.7 million euros from the European funds of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (Next Generation EU), within the framework of an agreement between the Catalan Sports Council and the Amposta City Council.
The European involvement reinforces the local commitment to sustainability and energy transition.
An ambitious project for the province of Tarragona
The mayor of Amposta, Adam Tomàs, highlights this action as the continuation of a project started with the biomass boiler, which will now allow, among other things, the air conditioning of the outdoor pool and the advancement towards more efficient sports facilities.
For the residents and athletes of the province, this means lower energy expenses and greater comfort.
The reality is that the Sports Training Center of Amposta is preparing to become a reference in energy optimization and sports sustainability in Tarragona.
