Amposta promotes artistic creation in classrooms with two cultural projects
More than fifty students from Amposta have experienced a unique artistic journey within the school. Two projects from the Culture and Education program have brought artistic creation into classrooms, combining education and culture in a direct and participatory way.
During the 2025-2026 school year, Amposta became the first municipality outside the metropolitan area to join this initiative by the Generalitat of Catalonia, which aims to make art a learning tool for young people.
Amposta and the Culture and Education program
What is it and why does it matter?
The Culture and Education program is a commitment by the Generalitat to break down walls between the cultural and educational worlds. Through artistic projects in schools, it seeks to make learning more alive, creative, and critical.
Amposta has positioned itself at the forefront by participating in two activities involving schools, artists, and local cultural institutions.
The value of bringing art into the classroom
The Councilor of Education, Núria Marco, highlighted that the experience has been a success and that the city believes in the power of synergies between culture and education, something that is not always so evident nowadays.
Participating in these projects means that art ceases to be an abstract subject and becomes a tangible experience within the classroom, connecting with the students' reality.
Two projects, two ways of creating
Jumping into delirium: collective audiovisual creation
The Ramon Berenguer IV Institute debuted its participation in the En RESiDÈNCiA program with the project Jumping into delirium. The students worked with visual artist Alba G. Corral and Lo Pati – Terres de l’Ebre Art Center.
The result was an audiovisual piece reflecting a joint creative process, publicly presented at Lo Pati. An experience that went beyond the classroom to show art as a collective and contemporary language.
To the rhythm of J: the power of oral tradition
Students from different educational centers (Agustí Barberà School Institute, Sagrat Cor School, and Technification Institute) worked with the versadora Imma Ripollés, known as Imma de Sopa, to explore the Catalan language and popular culture.
Improvised jota, glosa, and other forms of oral expression were used to create a project that culminated in a performance at the Octavi Ruiz auditorium of La Lira Ampostina, where tradition and creativity went hand in hand.

Cultural and educational collaboration
Cultural professionals and local cultural facilities have been essential to bringing these projects to life. These collaborations strengthen the relationship between culture and education in the Terres de l’Ebre region.
The Culture and Education program demonstrates that culture is not limited to the stage or gallery but can and must be present in classrooms.
An initiative that not only makes education more enjoyable but also lays the foundation for young people to learn to think, feel, and create with a critical and participatory perspective.
If art is a mirror of society, there’s no reason to complain: Amposta already has it well within reach.
