A walk through the streets of time

Walking through Beget is like stepping through a portal to the 12th century. The stone houses, wooden balconies, and narrow alleys keep the medieval essence intact, as if time had decided to take a break. The absence of souvenir shops and crowds of tourists makes it even more authentic.

The epicenter: the Romanesque church of Sant Cristòfol. With a single nave and columns decorated with mythological animals, it is a small great museum where 19th-century paintings by Joaquim Vayreda are preserved, along with a polychrome carving of Christ in Majesty, one of the most important in Catalonia.

How to get there and where to stay

The route from Barcelona goes through mountain roads with curves, especially the last 15 kilometers that will test your stomach. Girona Airport is the closest option if you are traveling from outside, followed by the adventure by car or taxi.

Regarding accommodation, Beget has some charming rural houses and inns that will make you feel part of the village, but if you prefer more comfort, you can opt for establishments in Camprodon or in La Garrotxa, a short drive away.
