More than 400 people participate in a cultural weekend that explores the emotional landscapes of Miró, Picasso, Gaudí, and Casals in Mont-roig del Camp.

Imagine about ten people running through the streets of Mont-roig del Camp, solving puzzles to "recover" an iconic painting. It is not a dream, but the reality of a cultural weekend that has excited more than 400 participants. All this with the invisible yet very present presence of four geniuses who marked Catalan culture: Miró, Picasso, Gaudí, and Casals.

The project "The Landscape of the Geniuses" has left its mark by spreading its activities throughout Mont-roig del Camp, Horta de Sant Joan, Riudoms, and El Vendrell, with proposals for family audiences and locals. These experiences connect with the spaces that inspired these artists, from visual landscapes to emotions that still beat in these places.

The emotional landscape that moves Mont-roig del Camp

An escape room to "recover" La Masia

In Mont-roig del Camp, a group of about ten people participated in an outdoor escape room, where they had to interact with the environment to solve the mystery of the theft of Joan Miró’s painting "La Masia." This activity is not only a game but also a way to relive the artist’s connection with the landscape of the area, which was key to his work.

Connection between art and territory

The project leader, Eva Martínez, describes the initiative as a proposal that "eats, lives, and drinks" the landscape. In other words, a complete sensory experience that goes beyond simple cultural tourism. This methodology makes participants feel like they are part of the cultural legacy that Miró, Picasso, Gaudí, and Casals left in these territories.

Activities spread across the province

Horta de Sant Joan and Riudoms: beyond Mont-roig

In addition to Mont-roig, the cultural program has extended to Horta de Sant Joan and Riudoms. These spaces offer activities that explain the influence these geniuses had on their work, with a focus on proximity and family audiences. This strategy seeks to foster an emotional connection with the territory from a very direct and tangible angle.

El Vendrell and Pau Casals’s legacy

El Vendrell, the birthplace of Pau Casals, has been key to raising awareness of the musician’s footprint. The proposed activities invite participants to discover how the local landscape and culture influenced one of the most internationally recognized musicians, connecting past and present in a very intimate way.

A weekend with more than 400 participants

Impact on the local community

More than 400 people participated in this weekend, a number that reveals the growing interest in this type of cultural experiences that combine play, art, and territory. This massive participation reinforces the idea that the public seeks more experiential and interactive ways to connect with cultural heritage.

Future perspectives of the project

The project "The Landscape of the Geniuses" does not only want to be a one-time event but a model of how culture and territory can be articulated to capture the attention of locals and visitors. With activities that invite participants to "live" art, the proposal could mark a new way of doing cultural tourism with a strong emotional impact.

An archaeological find in Vimbodí i Poblet shows hearths of Upper Paleolithic hunter-gatherers. What do these remains tell us?

A small fire has reignited after 15,000 years. In Vimbodí i Poblet, archaeologists have excavated hearth remains that illuminate how the Upper Paleolithic hunter-gatherers lived in the Conca de Barberà.

The find is much more than ashes and burnt stones. It speaks directly to us about how that human group organized itself, fed itself, and adapted to a changing environment thousands of years ago.

The Molí del Salt site: a treasure in the Conca de Barberà

Recent excavations and key discoveries

The excavations carried out between May 11 and June 5, 2026, focused on level B2, an archaeological layer that began to be investigated in 2019. Here, remains of hearths used about 15,000 years ago were documented, marking one of the most relevant results of the campaign.

Archaeologists, with tools and patience, have precisely identified these hearths, which reveal essential details about the daily life of human groups of that era.

Historical and geographical context of the site

Molí del Salt is located in Vimbodí i Poblet, within the Conca de Barberà, a key area for understanding human evolution in the Upper Paleolithic. This region, the Francolí basin, has been the scene of recurrent human occupations, and the discoveries shed light on how life was before domestication and agriculture.

The site has made it possible to identify layers showing continuous or recurrent occupations, indicating that the area was favorable for hunter-gatherers.

The hearth remains: what do they tell us about hunter-gatherers?

The role of hearths in daily life

Hearths are not only fires for warming or cooking; they are social centers. Archaeologists emphasize that these remains provide clear evidence of daily activities, from food preparation to social interaction among group members.

Imagine the smoke, the heat, and the conversation surrounding that fire 15,000 years ago. This find makes tangible a human experience that seemed distant and abstract.

Technical and archaeological details of the remains

The hearths are found in a well-defined archaeological level, with associated materials that confirm their antiquity and use. Their preservation has allowed the study of the composition of ashes and plant remains, revealing which fuels were used.

Moreover, this information helps establish patterns of occupation and mobility of the groups, indicating how they adapted to the environment and managed natural resources.

The archaeological campaign and the future of the site

Dates and responsible team

The intervention took place between May 11 and June 5, 2026, with a team of specialized archaeologists working to decipher the secrets hidden in level B2.

The excavations are part of an ongoing project that began in 2019, which hopes to continue providing relevant data about the Upper Paleolithic in the area.

Projections and importance for the region

The data obtained interest not only experts but also enrich the cultural heritage of the Conca de Barberà and Tarragona. This discovery may attract researchers and tourists interested in the most remote human history.

It is clear that Molí del Salt is much more than a site: it is a window to the past that still has much to tell.

The find at Molí del Salt demonstrates that even 15,000 years ago, fire was already the center of human life, with uses that remain essential to us today. These remains are a direct testimony connecting us with those who trod the Conca de Barberà long before us.

Must-see coves to discover in Tarragona... and enjoy

Coastal itinerary from l’Ametlla de Mar

Starting at l’Ametlla de Mar, you will find coves such as Cala del Illot, Cala de l’Àliga, and Cala Xelin, a succession of natural spots where the sea mixes with cliffs and pines. These coves are ideal for those looking for tranquility and a swim with few people around.

A little further up, Cala del Torrent del Pi and Cala Mosques offer a slightly wilder landscape but are equally accessible with clear signs.

Lesser-known and curious spots of the Costa Daurada

If you go a bit further away, you must visit the Bosc de la Marquesa, a natural environment that combines trails and views of the Mediterranean Sea. There is also Cala Waikiki, a place that looks like it came out of a postcard due to its combination of crystal-clear water and vegetation.

Next to the famous Castle of Tamarit, Cala Jovera is a small paradise for those who want to combine history and nature without having to travel many kilometers.

How to get there and what to do near the coves

Access and transportation

Most of these coves are accessible by car from Tarragona or Reus in less than an hour. From Tarragona city, the C-42 and N-340 are the most common routes to reach l’Ametlla de Mar and nearby areas.

For those who prefer public transport, there are intercity buses connecting coastal towns with the Tarragona capital, although to explore more hidden coves, a car or bicycle is almost essential.

Activities and local tourism

Besides swimming and the beach, these areas offer hiking, snorkeling, and cultural visits to local heritage such as the Castle of Tamarit or Bosc de la Marquesa, with marked routes that allow discovering Mediterranean flora and fauna.

Photography lovers will find a perfect setting in these coves and forests to capture the lights of the Costa Daurada and the combination of textures between rock, sea, and vegetation.

Where to eat and sleep to fully enjoy the experience

Local cuisine near the coast

If you feel like tasting seafood cuisine, the restaurants in l’Ametlla de Mar are known for their seafood paella and fresh fish dishes. Daily menus are usually an affordable option with locally sourced products.

You can also try romesco, a typical sauce that accompanies many dishes in the area and is found on most local menus.

Accommodations for all tastes

Regarding lodging, Tarragona and its surroundings offer a variety of campgrounds, hotels, and rural houses. Campgrounds near l’Ametlla are a very popular option for those who want to be in direct contact with nature and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere.

For those who prefer more comfort, there are boutique hotels in Tarragona itself and in coastal towns like Calafell or Cambrils, with sea views and full services.

Remember that all these natural areas are fragile, so respect the environment and leave everything as you liked to find it.

The reality is that the province of Tarragona is full of coves just waiting for your visit, and you don’t have to go far to feel in a place almost untouched and spectacular.

Anyway, from Modernet we also want to advise you to be cautious if you visit these small coves. First, because over-tourism is harmful to the natural ecosystem. Also, keep in mind that these small coves often lack basic services such as showers, trash bins, or even lifeguards.

If you must swim in these paradisiacal coves, to fully enjoy it and without mishaps, check the sea conditions and the flag flying on neighboring beaches. Never go too far into the sea. And above all, keep your belongings well guarded and help keep the natural environment clean and cared for.

Flying with Ryanair has always had an emotional gym aspect: weighing your backpack, checking in before you get hit with a fee, and hoping the zipper doesn’t bulge at the boarding gate. But the latest updates make one thing clear: the company has made moves regarding luggage, boarding passes, and courts.

The Spanish precedent shaking Ryanair and the United Kingdom

The ruling that shook the industry last year

The Salamanca court condemned Ryanair to refund 147 euros to a passenger for improper charges of hand luggage on five flights taken between 2019 and 2024. The court considered that hand luggage is an essential and indispensable element of air transport, therefore the amount must be reimbursed with interest.

This decision made headlines in the British newspaper The Telegraph, which highlighted that hand luggage fees could soon be banned. British lawyers saw the ruling as a possible turning point for the whole sector.

Impact and reactions in the United Kingdom

Although 147 euros may seem irrelevant for a multi-million airline, the debate over additional fees is breaking new ground. The British, who are used to hellish queues at check-in and Ryanair boarding chaos, are closely following the effects of this ruling which could set a trend across Europe.

Ryanair and the United Kingdom remove luggage fees to improve air travel and save passengers costs — Image generated by AI

Industry sources explain that, although the elimination of these fees does not guarantee savings for all travelers, it could mean an increase in base fares to offset lost revenues.

How this affects trips from the Camp de Tarragona

Flights and connections to the United Kingdom

Residents of Tarragona planning trips to the United Kingdom, especially London, may soon see changing conditions for air transport. The Reus Airport, with regular connections to British cities, could benefit from a clearer system with fewer surprises at boarding.

Although Ryanair dominates the route, other low-cost and regular airlines might follow the same path if the precedent spreads.

The Spanish factor changing the rules of the game

Why are the Spanish the protagonists?

The legal action that started in Salamanca has opened the door to a European debate on airline fees. It is unusual for a local ruling to have such an international impact, but Ryanair has been one of the most common targets of Spanish consumers.

The fact that the judge defined hand luggage as essential paves the way to reconsider abusive practices by some airlines, especially low-cost ones.

But here lies the interesting part: the mere fact that the British look toward Spain using the phrase “we have to thank the Spanish” is an unexpected point of pride on the map of European travel.

Ryanair changes the rules of the game: more free bag, less paper, and the law looking toward low-cost

The main news for passengers is that the free personal bag allowed in the cabin now has maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 20 cm. Previously, the usual limit was 40 x 25 x 20 cm, so the change gives a bit more room to that low-cost backpack that always seemed on the edge of failure.

But let’s not get romantic: it must fit under the seat in front. This is the detail that decides everything. If the bag sticks out, puffs up like a badly closed croissant, or ends up in the overhead compartment without having paid for priority, Ryanair may consider it no longer a personal bag but a billable declaration of intent.

Luggage type

Condition

Free personal bag

40 x 30 x 20 cm

Must go under the seat in front.

10 kg cabin suitcase

55 x 40 x 20 cm

Only with Priority & 2 Cabin Bags or equivalent fare.

Ryanair itself explains its luggage policy on its official website, where it reminds that all fares include a small personal bag, but any additional or larger piece must be purchased separately. Updated information can be found here: official Ryanair luggage policy.

The paper boarding pass is becoming a thing of the past

The other important change is the transition to a 100% digital boarding pass. Ryanair indicates that passengers must check in online and show the code from the official app. Translation for humans: a charged mobile phone is now as important as your ID.

The company assures that this system reduces costs, facilitates incident management, and eliminates paper. But it also requires a bit more care: battery, app installed, logged in, and pass downloaded. The typical “no coverage” scene at the boarding queue is officially banned for the sake of self-respect.

Ryanair also foresees practical exceptions: if the passenger checked in online but loses their phone, it turns off, or they don’t have a device, the company says they can receive assistance at the airport. Still, the message is clear: arriving without having completed check-in continues to be costly.

The legal front: Ryanair gains ground in courts

The most delicate part is legal. The Brussels Labour Court has upheld Ryanair's policy on cabin luggage and rejected claims that the airline is obliged to include a large overhead compartment suitcase within the basic ticket price. In short: the small bag under the seat yes; the overhead suitcase not necessarily free.

In Spain, the battle is not fully over. The multimillion-euro fines imposed on various low-cost airlines for practices such as charging for larger hand luggage or printing boarding passes have been suspended in some cases while appeals are resolved. In other words: there is a game, but Ryanair is currently playing with the wind in its favor.

For travelers, the conclusion is quite down-to-earth: before flying, you need to check sizes, fare, and check-in like someone checking if they turned off the gas. The new free bag gives a bit more margin, yes, but Ryanair remains Ryanair: an airline where every centimeter can have more consequences than a 6-euro coffee at the airport.

The big star this season is the debut of a dedicated auditorium in the Las Islas area. This space has been designed to host "The Tournament," a show that for years has captivated thousands of visitors. Now, the Black Knight and his inseparable squire return bolder than ever, surrounded by an environment crafted to enhance every detail of the experience.

Productions that leave a mark

As if that were not enough, Terra Mítica goes big on large-scale productions. "Barbarroja, The Lost Treasure" is the flagship show performed daily in Iberia. And if you’re looking for a more family-friendly plan, "The Butterfly Circus" completes the artistic offer, held in the new Pandora auditorium.

Mechanical rides: adrenaline and fun for all

From extreme thrills to adventures for kids

More than thirty rides will be operational, combining high-intensity options like Titánide and Inferno with classics like the Nil Falls or the bumper cars Arietes. The little ones are not left behind thanks to adapted versions like Jabatos, guaranteeing fun and safety for the whole family.

A park for all ages and tastes

Terra Mítica has managed to maintain a balance between those seeking strong emotions and those who prefer more peaceful experiences. The variety of rides and shows makes any visit a pleasure, regardless of age or preference.

From the YouTube channel 'Jerez Coaster Adventures', which witnessed the park’s opening this year, they give us a taste of everything we will see and live at the mega park of Marina Baixa.

How to get there, where to eat and what to visit nearby

Easy access from Tarragona and the province

To get to Terra Mítica from Tarragona or the Tarragona region, the best option is to take the AP-7 highway southbound to exit 65 towards Benidorm. The trip takes approximately 3 hours by car. You can also opt for Alicante-Elche Airport, about 50 km away, with regular train or bus connections to Benidorm.

A "Modernet" tip: Take your time and you’ll get better prices on tickets. Buy tickets, choosing the options that suit you best, on the official Terra Mítica ticket sales website. Keep in mind that if you come by car, parking at the park will cost between 8 and 10 Euros per day.

Note to "modern" travelers: At the time of writing this article, we found the official theme park website down. We recommend visiting sites like Visit Benidorm for park information, or going to your nearest travel agency to get details about all attractions, schedules, and park conditions.

Gastronomy and accommodation to complete your visit

If hunger strikes after a day full of adrenaline, the Benidorm area offers everything from traditional restaurants with fresh fish dishes and rice, to tapas and local plates like the famous "clòtxina". For accommodation, there is a wide range: from family hotels to tourist apartments, ideal for resting before or after a day at the park.

If you’re looking for tickets + accommodation, on the Viajeros Piratas website you can find the offer that best suits you. You can also visit their official Facebook. Two hotels we recommend from Modernet are: Grand Luxor and the Four Points by Sheraton, two resorts next to the theme park with preferential access to Terra Mítica.

Terra Mítica is not just a park; it is a starting point to explore the Costa Blanca. Just a few kilometers away, you can visit the Serra Gelada, enjoy the beaches of El Arenal, or discover the historic center of Benidorm with its Mediterranean charm.

And if you take the CV-70 to the right of the theme park, you can venture into the interior of the Marina Baixa region and see mountain landscapes that are a complete contrast to the large coastal city, with postcard villages like La Nucia, Polop, Callosa d’en Sarrià, Bolulla, Tàrbena, the Castle of Guadalest...

With all this, the 2026 season at Terra Mítica promises to be more than just an amusement park: it is an invitation to live the adventure with all your senses wide awake.

Discover the presentations, workshops, lectures, and film club that the Reus Reading Center offers from May 25 to 31, 2026.

The Reus Reading Center leaves no one indifferent this last week of May with a packed agenda of activities that go far beyond the book. Presentations, lectures, and workshops that focus on culture, history, and social inclusion.

From May 25 to 31, 2026, this landmark institution of the city rolls out a program that invites everyone to participate both in person and online, with a range of options that no reader or curious person should miss.

Monday and Tuesday: Literature and heritage with a critical eye

Presentation of the novel La bassa

Monday 25 at 7:00 p.m., in the Emili Argilaga Room, the novel La bassa by Meritxell Benedí Altés is presented. Accompanied by Noemí Llauradó, president of the Tarragona Provincial Council, and Empar Pont, president of the Reus Reading Center, a story is brought to the table that does not waste the author’s political experience to construct a literary guide about toxic relationships.

More than an essay, it is a literary artifact that explores how first impressions can be misleading and how the true faces emerge over time. A novel that leaves no one indifferent because recognizing these dynamics is more common than we like to admit.

125 years of the Excursionist Section and presentation of Anys foscos

Tuesday 26, also at 7:00 p.m., there are two proposals: in the Emili Argilaga Room and virtually, the 125th anniversary of the Excursionist Section is celebrated with a photographic montage that captures the journey of the Flame of the Catalan Language, a work by Josep M. Beltran.

Simultaneously, in the Ramon Amigó Room, the presentation of Anys foscos. Consell de guerra contra un maqui by Enriqueta Moix Maré and Josep M. Vallès Martí brings us closer to the figure of Ramon Vidal Garrell, a leader of the CNT and protagonist of a story of resistance and exile that still sparks debate and emotion today.

Wednesday and Thursday: Lectures and closing of workshops with social impact

The keys to the United States with Javier de la Sotilla

Wednesday 27, at 7:30 p.m., the Emili Argilaga Room and its virtual version host the lecture “The United States of Trump,” given by Javier de la Sotilla Puig, Washington correspondent for La Vanguardia and RAC1. A vivid and direct portrait of American politics and society that will not leave you indifferent.

Closing with a reading on peace

Thursday 28 at 7:00 p.m., the aloud reading of texts about peace marks the end of the Read Aloud Workshop, under the direction of Rosa Mateu. It is an event that connects participants and spectators with a necessary and current message.

Later, at 8:30 p.m., the Bartrina Theater hosts the Film Club with the screening of No hay otra opción, a Korean film by Park Chan-wook that promises to provoke more than one reflection.

Friday and Saturday: Innovation and inclusion to close the week

Local conversations and visual art

Friday 29 at 7:00 p.m., the Emili Argilaga Room and its virtual version open the cycle “Conversations of Local Interest” with a lecture by Josep Cruset Vallverdú that deciphers the story behind the most iconic photograph of the Reus vermouth, a classic that is much more than an image.

In the Fortuny Room, at the same time, the screening and performative lecture Efímer, by Mariaelena Roqué, connects with the artistic and collaborative side with museums in Tortosa and Valls.

Music therapy workshop for families with functional diversity

Saturday 30 at 10:30 a.m., the Hortensi Güell Room offers a workshop that is not only for children with functional diversity but for the whole family. Led by psychologist Montserrat Navarro, this safe and welcoming space allows sharing experiences and well-being through music, with songs, games, and relaxation.

A free activity with a clear goal: to make everyone feel part of an inclusive community.

The schedule of the Reus Reading Center this week makes culture accessible, versatile, and committed. If you haven’t put eyes or ears on it yet, maybe it’s time to do so.

Casablanca, 30 years old and a bicycle. Meryem Belkihel, known on Instagram as MeghyLost, embarked on an adventure that many consider crazy: 35,000 km by bike across Africa. And no, it’s not any tourist route.

For three years, she crossed 33 countries on the continent, from Marrakesh to South Africa, dodging storms, insecurities, and whatever else you can imagine. But what drove her to do it? And how has her view of Africa changed? Here you won’t find the typical story.

The journey that changed a life and a perspective

Meryem Belkihel is not just any cyclist. At only 30 years old, this young woman from Casablanca decided to do what many don’t even dare to think about: cross Africa by bicycle. 35,000 kilometers pedaling through 33 countries, never returning home for three years. Her route had not only a sporting goal but also to break stereotypes and show the real Africa.

During her journey she faced scorching deserts, dusty roads, torrential rains, and difficult political contexts. But her motivation was not only to overcome physical obstacles: she wanted to highlight the role of African women and denounce the effects of climate change in different regions.

How to get to Casablanca, starting point

If you want to know the city that saw Meryem depart, getting there is easy from Camp de Tarragona. You can take a low-cost flight with a stopover in Barcelona or Madrid to Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, which is about 30 minutes from the city center. You also have the option of the train from Rabat or Tangier if you want a slower route through Morocco. In Casablanca, don’t miss the seafront where Meryem was interviewed, with views of the imposing Hassan II Mosque and El Hank lighthouse.

Gastronomy and accommodation in Casablanca

After the journey, you will surely want to taste the local cuisine. In the waterfront area, there are several restaurants offering fresh seafood and typical dishes such as tajine. For lodging, there are everything from budget guesthouses to modern hotels like the Kenzi Tower Hotel, which offers impressive views of the city.

Debunking myths: Africa is not a country

Meryem wanted her experience to serve to break the simplistic and often wrong vision of Africa. Many people think it is a single country full of conflicts and poverty, an idea she completely rejects.

Throughout the journey, she discovered cities with advanced digital systems, dynamic economies, and safe regions despite the political instability of certain countries. For example, she experienced protests in Senegal and Mozambique but also walked through quiet and modern neighborhoods.

How to get around Africa by bike and visas

Crossing so many countries by bike is not only a physical matter but also a bureaucratic one. Visas are a headache, especially for African citizens. Meryem highlights that visa costs can exceed 300 euros and that often Europeans enter more easily than Africans, a paradox that exposes the inequalities on the continent.

Tips for exploring Africa from Camp de Tarragona

Plan your documentation well according to the country.

Check local security on official websites before traveling.

Consider combined trips with flights and local transport to save time.

A journey with soul: the voice of African women

For Meryem, the journey is also a declaration of intent: to show that African women can achieve great things. Her website and social networks became an open travel diary, where she shared experiences, challenges, and unique moments.

In addition, she wanted to strengthen the link between Marrakech and the rest of Africa, reminding that people share values such as hospitality and generosity. Her critical perspective also questions the dominant narratives in Europe and Morocco, where prejudices about the continent still persist.

Visiting Casablanca and surroundings after the route

Once in Casablanca, take the opportunity to make a getaway to places like El Jadida or Rabat, cities full of history and good food. Don’t miss trying a good mint tea on Boulevard Mohamed V or on Atlantic Ocean Boulevard and tasting a good plate of couscous.

Recommended accommodation and gastronomy

If you are looking for a place to stay after Meryem’s route, try a traditional riad in Casablanca or a boutique hotel in Rabat. On the table, authentic Moroccan cuisine stands out with dishes like harira or sweet pastries.

The reality is that this journey was not only a physical route but a brave exercise to question stereotypes and show the diverse Africa that many do not know. If you dare to follow Meryem’s steps, prepare for an experience that goes beyond what you imagine.

What happens when a yacht is not just any yacht? When it has 168 meters in length, capacity for 142 passengers, and a submarine that reaches 300 meters deep? This reality has arrived in Getxo these days. And the story does not end here.

The 'Scenic Eclipse' is not just a vessel; it is a floating hotel with 114 luxury suites and a design tailor-made by the Basque company Oliver Design. But its presence at the Bilbao Abra is much more than just an illustrious visitor.

A super-luxury yacht with submarine and local design

Features that capture attention

The 'Scenic Eclipse' is a giant that not only stands out, since 2019, for its size. With a reinforced hull to cross the Arctic and Antarctic ice, this yacht features two Airbus H130-T2 helicopters and a submarine for eight people to explore the seabed at 300 meters. A true underwater adventure with corals and marine fauna, and with activities like kayaking or diving among its services. Its improved version is the 'Scenic Eclipse', which is chartered in 2023.

Design and construction in Getxo

The architectural project came from the hands of Oliver Design, a Basque company based in Getxo. The vessel, built in 2019, began its first crossing between Istanbul and Venice but is designed to challenge the most extreme conditions. With a speed of 17 knots and a weight of 17,085 tons, the 'Scenic Eclipse' is a showcase of technology and luxury.

The luxury cruise experience and exclusive services

Suites and six-star comforts

Talking about 114 double suites with private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows already marks another dimension. From the 32 m² Verandah Suite to the 232 m² Owner Suite, service includes a 24-hour butler for each passenger. The pools, a 550 m² spa, cinema rooms, and up to 10 fine dining restaurants —French, Italian, and Asian— are part of the daily ritual onboard.

Prices and dream routes

Prices range from 20,000 to 40,000 euros per cabin, depending on the itinerary. The 'Scenic Eclipse's last route started in Lisbon and will end in Dublin, passing through Vigo, Ferrol, Bordeaux, and other high-end ports. Most passengers are North American, but availability for any luxury lover is real and bookings can be made through specialized agencies and portals such as Emeraldspanic.com.

Where to find information and book luxury cruises

Specialized websites and agencies

The prices of the 'Scenic Eclipse' may seem astronomical, but the quality of services, privacy, and exclusivity justify them for those seeking a unique experience. From sailing the Nordic fjords to expeditions in Antarctica, the variety is broad and the services top-notch. You can find the option that best fits your possibilities on this Emerald Spanic page, with offers that will make you want to start packing.

The 'Scenic Eclipse' has made it clear that Getxo is not only a port but a workshop of ideas and design for the maritime luxury industry. And for the curious, seeing a submarine launch into the water from a 168-meter yacht is a spectacle not seen every day. A luxury that, while not for everyone, sets the bar very high.

A small, almost unknown village that holds a natural treasure you wouldn’t expect so close to Valencia. Benilloba, with fewer than 800 inhabitants, seems to have stayed frozen in time. But, oh, it hides a secret that precisely makes it irresistible, especially for lovers of hiking and nature in its purest form.

Located in the province of Alicante, within the Valencian Community, and just an hour and twenty minutes from Valencia, this place combines mountain landscapes and historical heritage in a way few villages can boast. Its fame? A waterfall that leaves even the most demanding tourist speechless.

Benilloba, the village that defies size with its nature

The Salt Waterfall and the Mill of the Rocks

Benilloba is best known for the Route to the Salt Mill, which leads directly to the Mill of the Rocks of Salt, an old mill from 1852 that ended up becoming a hydroelectric plant (Factory of Light) that still retains the charm of another era. But the absolute star is the Benilloba Waterfall, a spectacular waterfall born from the Penàguila River that attracts visitors from all over the Valencian Community and beyond.

Salt Mill - Inauguration and Blessing of the Factory of Light, 1902. Photo from Wikimedia Commons.

To get there you must pass by the Teulería Fountain, and don’t worry if the descent scares you: a stone staircase makes access easier, making it accessible to almost everyone, even those not trained for mountain hiking.

If you want to prepare a good route from Benilloba village to this mill, passing by fountains and spectacular spots, we recommend this Wikiloc route, posted by user Mike K Six, but plan the route well and prepare properly while observing the weather.

A natural environment to explore

Around Benilloba, the Aitana Mountain Range stands out strongly and offers a landscape that looks like it came from a postcard. Here you can take hiking routes that connect with other well-known mountain ranges like Puig Campana and the Sierra de Mariola.

Also, it’s not just mountains: less than 100 km away, there is a coastline with more than 200 km of beaches and coves with crystal-clear waters that become a summer temptation for visitors, combining the best of mountain and coast in a getaway that requires no long travel.

How to get to Benilloba from Valencia

A direct and easy route by road

From Tarragona, it’s about a 4-hour drive, taking the AP-7 down until you reach Valencia. Taking the A-7 route is the most comfortable and fastest way to travel from Valencia to Benilloba. In a little over an hour and twenty minutes, you will cover approximately 98 km from the center of Valencia to the village, passing through well-signposted roads with landscapes that already prepare the traveler for the experience ahead.

The route goes along C. de les Filipines and Av. d'Ausiàs March to the V-3 and then joins the A-7. Once at exit 442, just follow Carrer Tapia, where the Benilloba adventure begins.

Public transport and alternatives

Although there are some bus connections, public transport is not exactly the best option to get there. The recommendation is to go by car, so you can enjoy the journey and stop at points of interest you find along the way.

For those seeking more adventure, the cycling routes surrounding the area are an added attraction. But beware, the climbs are relentless.

What to do, eat, and where to stay in Benilloba and surroundings

Enjoy local dishes and the gastronomic culture

Benilloba, like the entire Alicante territory, does not fall short in gastronomy. The bean stew with turnips and meat is a classic you can’t miss. And if you’re in the mood for something sweet, their traditional sweet potato cake is a delight that will make you come back for more.

For meals, the village has some family-run restaurants where homemade cooking reigns, such as Bar Nou, a simple place with authentic flavor, highly valued by locals and visitors seeking authenticity.

Charming accommodation to complete the visit

The village offers lodging in rural houses and small inns that maintain the place’s peaceful and welcoming character. For example, Casa Rural El Portalet is a highly recommended option for those who want to rest after a day of hiking and discover the village at a relaxed pace.

If you want a fuller experience, you can combine the visit with a stay in the city of Alcoy, just 20 km away, which has more hotel options and a pleasant urban atmosphere.

Other places to visit nearby

If you crave more, the Mariola Mountain Range, with its small villages and routes, is very close. You can also visit Alcoy, with its modernist and industrial heritage, or make a getaway to the beaches of the Costa Blanca, less than an hour away by road.

This contrast between mountain and sea makes Benilloba ideal for weekend getaways or a few days of total relaxation.

The reality is that Benilloba is not just any village; it is a place where nature, history, and daily life blend with a charm that makes you come back, even if just to see the Benilloba Waterfall again.

The narrowest street in Barcelona is not just a play of spaces and dimensions, but a small universe full of curiosities that almost go unnoticed by the eyes of locals and visitors alike. What hides behind this passageway that could be the perfect setting for a suspense movie? A story that will make you look twice the next time you cross it.

Located near the Gothic Quarter, Carrer de les Mosques stands out for its minimal width, which does not reach 80 centimeters at some points. According to data from the Municipal Archive and urban history experts, this street has survived centuries of urban transformations with a strongly marked personality. But what makes it so special? Not just its size, but the atmosphere it breathes, between shadows and lights that invite you to get lost.

Carrer de les Mosques: a little piece of history and urbanism in Barcelona

Origin and curiosities

The name is already a statement of intent: mosques (flies). According to historical sources, this word is related to the presence of this insect in that area centuries ago, when the neighborhood was still a maze of narrow streets and stone houses. But there are also those who think the name could come from a corruption of the term 'moscatell', a type of wine that was sold nearby, or even an old popular expression related to the narrowness of the street.

Either way, this street has been the subject of study and admiration by architects and urban planners who consider it an extreme example of medieval Barcelona urbanism, where every centimeter counted and space was a luxury.

Its location and surroundings

Just a few steps from the cathedral and Sant Felip Neri square, Carrer de les Mosques ventures into a labyrinth of streets that preserve the old essence of the city. Walking here is to step back in time, with the sound of suitcase wheels hitting the cobblestones and some scent of aromas coming from the small hidden restaurants in these corners.

One of the hidden gems is the proximity to emblematic places like Plaça del Rei or Plaça de Sant Jaume, but with a much more intimate and less touristy feeling. Here, the pace seems slower, almost as if the street breathed to a different rhythm.

How to get there and what to do in the area

The best way to discover the street

Come on foot or by public transport; the Gothic Quarter is accessible from several metro and bus lines. But beware, Carrer de les Mosques is not a place for cars or hurried tourists: it is a space to get lost and let yourself be carried away.

Locals recommend arriving early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid crowds and enjoy the silence surrounding this tiny space. Local guides explain that many anecdotes and stories are kept at every corner, from urban legends to small family businesses that still maintain the essence of decades ago.

What to taste around

Gastronomy is another attraction of the area. Just a few meters away you will find restaurants with daily menus offering traditional Catalan dishes

But the most recommended thing is to follow the smells and sounds, enter a small tavern, and order a strong coffee while observing the life of the neighborhood that seems frozen in time.

And if you want to discover more places like this, hidden restaurants, free museums, and different plans in the Catalan capital, @elenamanukhina, on her Instagram profile invites us to comment the word "GUIDE" and she will send us an amazing guide to Barcelona’s most secret spots.

Everyday life and local curiosities

A window to the past and the present

Despite its size, Carrer de les Mosques is a living testimony of how Barcelona has evolved, maintaining its personality between modernity and tradition. Neighbors say that often conversations are heard in different languages, but the most usual noise is the buzz of some fly that seems to want to remind you of the street’s name.

A local historian, Joan Soler, commented in 2023 that "these small streets tell the real story of Barcelona, not the big avenues". And he is right.

Reactions and curiosities of those who visit it

Tourists who arrive are often surprised by the extremely tight space and the almost claustrophobic feeling it creates. It’s like entering a secret world, an unknown Barcelona that almost no one tells about. And this, in the 21st century, is a privilege that must be experienced at least once.

According to a local tour guide in 2024, "Carrer de les Mosques is proof that size isn’t always synonymous with importance. Sometimes the smallest hides the biggest".

The truth is, if you are looking for a different experience with a touch of authenticity, this street is a must-stop on your route through Barcelona. And if afterwards you stop for a homemade menu dinner nearby, even better.

And so, among stories of flies, narrow streets, and the smell of paella from the menu, Barcelona remains the city that never stops surprising, even in its tiniest and most hidden corners.

The Etruscan civilization is one of the great unknowns that preceded and coexisted with the Roman Empire. With a rich and mysterious culture, this civilization left its mark on the Italian peninsula before disappearing, yet even today it surprises us with its stories and archaeological findings.

Among the cities that were part of this ancient world, Veii stands out as a living example of this history. Located at the northern border of the Roman metropolis, today it is a museum archaeological park offering a direct window into the past and the coexistence between Etruscans and Romans.

The Veii Archaeological Park: a journey to the lost city

The ancient sanctuary and its findings

What we know today as the Veii Archaeological Park houses emblematic sites such as the sanctuary of Apollo, also called the Portonaccio sanctuary, one of the most monumental and revered in Etruria. This area, discovered in 1916, revealed terracotta statues of Apollo, Hermes, and Heracles that decorated the temple. This find not only captivated experts but still today illustrates the religious and cultural importance of the site.

The Etruscan city and its historical evolution

Veii was a city with an active presence from the 7th century BC until the 2nd century BC, when it became integrated into the Roman sphere. Recently, an archaeological study has changed the traditional view that Veii was a failure during the Roman era, presenting it as an example of community resilience and adaptation. This adds a new dimension to its history and motivates a visit to see firsthand this witness of the past.

The remains of the ancient Etruscan city of Veii are located near Isola Farnese, on a triangular plateau surrounded by the Fosso della Mola and Cremèra rivers. The site was already inhabited in the Bronze Age and Villanovan period, but it grew mainly thanks to control of the lower Tiber, exploitation of saltworks, and intense trade with Greek merchants.

Between the 7th and 6th centuries BC, Veii transformed into an important city, with walls made of tuff blocks and masonry houses. Its proximity to Rome, only 17 kilometers away, caused an inevitable rivalry for territorial control, which ended with the Roman conquest in 396 BC by Furius Camillus. Later, the territory was reorganized with farms, rural villas, and, during the time of Caesar and Augustus, a new colony turned into a municipality.

The city was surrounded by numerous necropolises with tumuli and chamber tombs, some of great archaeological value. Highlights include the Tomb of the Ducks, considered the oldest Etruscan tomb with mural paintings, and the Campana Tomb, decorated with animals, vegetal motifs, riders, and fantastic figures. These funerary spaces have provided essential objects for understanding Etruscan culture.

One of the most notable points of Veii is the Portonaccio sanctuary, famous for the terracotta statue of Apollo, now preserved at the Villa Giulia Museum. The temple, decorated with rich terracotta pieces attributed to the workshop of Vulca, worshiped Minerva and Apollo. Veii also stands out for its underground engineering system, especially the Ponte Sodo, a gallery about 70 meters long that helped channel the flooding of the Cremèra river.

What to visit and enjoy in the Veii area

Itineraries and archaeological landscapes

In addition to the sanctuary, the area is surrounded by a natural park that invites hiking and contemplation. The paths of the Veii Regional Park connect several archaeological points and offer a landscape full of history and nature, an ideal setting for heritage lovers and tranquility seekers.

What to see near Veii

Isola Farnese: a charming small village near the park, with a castle and narrow stone streets.

Formello: a neighboring municipality with a medieval historic center and the Palazzo Chigi, which often hosts exhibitions.

Veii waterfalls: hiking routes leading to small waterfalls within the protected natural area.

Nearby gastronomy and accommodation

After strolling among ruins, the local gastronomy surprises with traditional Roman and Etruscan dishes reinvented, with local ingredients and recipes evoking the past. In the area, small hotels and rural houses allow for a comfortable and authentic stay, perfect for those who want to escape tourist crowds.

What to eat in the area

The gastronomy of this area north of Rome is typical of Lazio, based on local products and homestyle cooking.

Trattorias in Isola Farnese and Formello: look for rustic restaurants offering traditional pastas with typical sauces such as Amatriciana, Carbonara, or Cacio e Pepe.

Local specialties: wines from the area, especially white wine production, artisanal cured meats, and grilled meats.

The best way to enjoy it is to combine a morning visit to the archaeological park with lunch at one of the family-run restaurants in Isola Farnese before strolling through the village.

How to get to Veii from Tarragona

Transport options

To get to Veii from Tarragona, the most common route is to fly or take a train to Rome, from where public transport or rental car can be used to reach the Archaeological Park. A train and bus combination is feasible, although it is recommended to plan well, as connections may be limited and the park is in a protected area requiring walking to access it.

If you want to go on your own, you can choose to go by car. From Tarragona, it takes about 15 hours by road, but you can spend the night in Marseille or Monaco and continue your journey passing through Genoa, Florence, and all the way down to Rome.

Practical recommendations

The park opens with free access and no reservation needed, although it may be affected by occasional closures due to landslides or maintenance, so it is advisable to check beforehand. The visit is ideal in spring and autumn, when the weather is favorable and the landscape more pleasant.

The reality is that Veii is not just another archaeological site: it is a living testimony of a civilization that knew how to adapt and leave a mark that still speaks to us today. Visiting the Etruscan city of Veii is a stroll through history and nature, with a touch of mystery that only places with a true past can offer.

Josep Mateu Pérez and Josep Mateu Besora offered an impeccable concert in Valls with positive organ and ancient instruments. Discover this unique musical heritage.

Josep Mateu Pérez and his son Josep Mateu Besora captivated Valls with a concert that sounded "almost heavenly." Instruments such as the positive organ, organetto, flabiol, and tambourine transported the audience centuries back, breaking the idea that all old music in the church is religious.

On May 12th, at the church of Sant Antoni, an acoustic jewel of the city, a show was experienced that blended tradition and interpretive precision. This evening is part of the Nits de Clàssics, a must-attend event in Alt Camp.

The impeccable performance of fascinating early music

Instruments and repertoire that resonate

The positive organ, a portable organ, was the sonic soul of the concert. Accompanied by flabiol, tambourine, tambourine, castanets, and other percussion instruments, the duo unfolded a rich and diverse repertoire. Medieval works and baroque pieces, both from the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, were played, surprising with their freshness and depth.

Secular music in the church

Although performed in a sacred space, the music was not religious. The evening highlighted the secular music of the time, created for festivals and celebrations, such as the well-known Ballo del Granduca, composed for a wedding. This perspective offers a broader and more interesting view of the ancient musical heritage.

The great research and dissemination work of the artists

A rigorous and passionate work

Josep Mateu and his son not only perform; they meticulously research each piece to respect historical authenticity. This investigative work is key to preserving and spreading a heritage that often remains confined to specialized circles.

Spreading heritage to the general public

With concerts like this, early music leaves the museum to reach everyone. Its cultural and emotional value becomes accessible, and people can enjoy an experience that expands the soul and inspires.

A concert to enjoy the senses and expand the soul

A unique experience in Valls

The acoustics of the church of Sant Antoni helped create an intimate and magical atmosphere, ideal for this music. The sound of the instruments, delicate yet vibrant, transported the audience to other times with a rare intensity.

The cultural and popular value of early music

The music performed is not only musical heritage but also living popular culture. Thanks to musicians like Josep Mateu and Besora, this legacy remains alive and accessible to new generations.

Who knows if we will always be able to enjoy shows like this, with artists who not only play but save our cultural history in such an elegant and intense way.

From Modernet we have recovered a recorded concert of Josep Mateu, father, and Josep Mateu, son, so you can enjoy this spectacular music if you could not attend the event on May 12th.

Cultural and heritage awards at the night of Valls

Awards for safeguarding heritage and history

Among the 16 awards being called for, the recognition for safeguarding cultural and architectural heritage stands out. Thus, Daniel Maria Segú Roca and the Alt Camp Regional Tourism Service with the initiative “Xala l’Alt Camp” have been honored for their contribution to keeping local heritage alive.

Also awarded with the 41st Award for the Safeguarding of Architectural Heritage is the collaboration between CB Germans Galofré Mercadé and the Catalan Agency for Cultural Heritage, which highlights the most emblematic heritage elements of the region.

Awards for historical research and journalism

The history of Valls has been brought to the forefront with the project Secrets of a 19th-century gilded painter from Valls, awarded the XXCIII Rodon-Giró historical research prize. This initiative, driven by local professionals, sheds light on the local artistic tradition.

Regarding journalism, the Setmanari el Vallenc has received the XL Cristina Requena Giró Award, a recognition promoted by the Ciutat de Valls Foundation that represents the importance of rigorous and committed information regarding Valls' reality.

Castells and education: pillars of Valls culture

Awards linked to castells

Castells are an unquestionable symbol of identity for Valls and the region. In this sense, the XIII Isidre Rabassó Award for casteller identity has recognized the careers of Francesc Xavier Orriols Sendra and Francesca Roig Galceran, while the XXXI Joan Ventura i Solé Award for casteller journalism went to Josep Torreño Domínguez.

These awards highlight the vitality of a tradition that is not only lived in the squares but is documented and defended by the media and civil society.

Awards for educational initiatives

Education also has a relevant space with the VII Josep Moncunill Cirac Award, granted to the Egueiro Association and Jaume Huguet Institute for innovative projects that promote learning and culture in the classrooms.

Additionally, the Eladi Homs School has received the XXVI Award for civic initiative to celebrate its 40 years contributing to the social and cultural cohesion of the city, a clear example that education and culture go hand in hand.

Culture as a driver of visibility and cohesion in Valls

The role of awards in cultural dynamization

These awards not only recognize careers and projects but also act as a driver to make Valls and Camp de Tarragona’s culture visible. Valuing the different cultural expressions helps reinforce rooting and a sense of belonging.

Rewarding effort in heritage, education, journalism, and traditions like the castells serves as a reminder that behind every initiative there are people and groups working to keep intangible and tangible heritage alive.

Thanks and congratulations to the awardees

We must strongly congratulate all the winners for their dedication and passion. The Ciutat de Valls Foundation, together with the City Council of Valls, the Chamber of Commerce, and other collaborating entities, are the architects of this significant awards ceremony, which not only exalts culture but reinforces its future.

The 43rd Night of Awards of Valls is not just any celebration: it is the celebration of the culture that unites us and projects us beyond the territory.

Instagram Contest and cultural projection in Reus

Winner of the digital contest

A new dimension of this event is the Instagram contest #rosesCLR2026, which this year awarded the photograph “Roser Joaquima Gallisà Reus2” signed by Joan Mateo Marco. This initiative connects the younger, digital audience with the floral tradition.

Importance and institutional support

The National Rose Exhibition Contest, organized by the Centre de Lectura with the collaboration of the City Promotion department of the Reus City Council, is a key element of the “Roses of Reus” campaign. Since 2021, this campaign has promoted Reus as a tourist, gastronomic, and cultural reference centered on the rose, strengthening the city’s image and its heritage.
