Campclar under control: 39 floors with stuck lights and fire risk
Campclar is not just a name in Tarragona, it is a neighborhood where insecurity is already knocking on the doorstep. Among apartments with illegal electricity and water connections, drug dealing spots, and a constant climate of tension, the neighbors can no longer stand it.
The Mossos d'Esquadra, together with the Guàrdia Urbana, the National Police, and technicians from Endesa, EMATSA, and the Catalan Housing Agency, deployed a major operation to stop this ticking time bomb.
Police operation in Campclar: facts that don’t lie
Arrests and inspections
In total, 48 occupied homes were inspected at Plaça del Riu Llobregat. The action made it possible to identify 84 people and detect 8 illegal occupations. Additionally, 4 eviction proceedings have been opened to restore order in an increasingly chaotic environment.
Fraudulent electricity and water connections
The most alarming? 39 apartments with illegal electricity connections, with fraudulently consumed power equivalent to that of a whole neighborhood of 140 homes. Some of these ingenious but dangerous installations were so badly done that supply had to be cut in 30 apartments to prevent fires or electrocution.
Regarding water, 23 fraudulent connections were detected and 10 service cuts were made. A total chaos that puts the safety and health of the neighbors at risk.

Drug dealing spots and constant tension
The neighbors not only fight against precarious supply but also against a bigger problem: drug dealing points operating with almost no control. The continuous coming and going of people generates a feeling of impunity and tension that makes living together unbearable.
Risks that endanger families
This is not a minor issue. Fraudulent electrical connections and illegal occupations endanger everyone’s safety: neighbors, families, emergency services, and anyone who has to intervene when irresponsibility ends up turning into tragedy.
What remains to be done and what awaits Campclar
Guaranteeing safety without excuses
The goal of this major operation is clear: guarantee safety and prevent risks stemming from illegal connections and neighborhood degradation. But the task doesn’t end here. Inspections, sanctions, and constant monitoring must continue so that Campclar ceases to be synonymous with danger.
Neighbors who do not want to give up
The residents of Campclar want coexistence and peace, not to live on edge waiting for a power cut or a fight in the stairwell. Social pressure and the involvement of authorities are key for this neighborhood to regain its dignity.
Safety is non-negotiable. Coexistence neither. And when chaos settles in, someone has to act to restore order.
