Europe arrives in Reus with a program that leaves no one behind. Activities, recognitions, and values that directly impact the citizens. It is not just any celebration, but an opportunity to see Europe closer.

Reus, through the Department of Economic Promotion, Innovation, and Knowledge, has organized a series of events for Europe Day, celebrated on May 9. The city wants to highlight its relationship with the European project and bring it closer to everyone, with activities that reach both adults and children.

Cultural activities to bring Europe closer to Reus

Exhibition “Europe, our common space”

On Monday, May 11, the Pere Anguera Library will be filled with interactive panels explaining how Europe has gradually consolidated social rights and freedoms. But it does not stay at the global level: it also shows how these changes improve life in Reus and its province. A way to see that Europe is not a distant concept but one that affects daily life.

Family storytime for the little ones

On Thursday, May 21, at the same library, the activity “Kalopsia” will bring European values to families and children. It is a way to engage the youngest with the ideas that drive Europe, in a playful and approachable manner.

Recognitions for companies and educational centers committed to Europe

Companies with a European projection

On Tuesday, May 12, REDESSA Tecno will be the venue to honor three local companies: Preciber, Aker Biomarine, and Embex. All of them work on projects that cross borders or have links with other European countries. This event not only recognizes their trajectory but also highlights the active role of Reus within the European Union.

Gaudí Institute, European Parliament Ambassador School

The Gaudí Institute is also recognized as an educational center that promotes European awareness among young people. This Ambassador School seal reinforces the idea that European values must be instilled from a young age, to build a more united and cooperative future.

Europe Day and the local commitment to the European Union

The Schuman Declaration, the engine that started Europe

The day commemorates May 9, 1950, when Robert Schuman, French Foreign Minister, delivered a speech that marked the beginning of the European project as we know it. This historical detail is the foundation justifying the celebration and the meaning of the activities in Reus.

Reus and the Europe Direct network

The city is part of Europe Direct, the European information network in Tarragona. This means that Reus does not only make symbolic declarations: it has a real commitment to Europe, bringing information, opportunities, and resources closer to its residents and businesses.

If you are in Reus, you have Europe within your reach. And not only on May 9.
