The priority phone line that has handled 459 incidents connects 746 Catalan municipalities
The priority phone line created by the Government has handled 459 incidents related to telephony since October 2025. This tool connects call center operators, local administrations, and the Generalitat to manage issues with coverage and the network more effectively.
With 746 Catalan municipalities participating, this initiative already covers nearly 80% of the territory and aims to transform the way telecommunications incidents are managed.
How the priority phone line and the TelcoCat Protocol work
What is it and why is it of interest to municipalities?
The priority phone line is an exclusive line so that municipalities can report incidents directly to operators. In this way, administrations take an active part in communication and problem resolution, especially with fixed telephony and mobile coverage.
Which operators and municipalities participate?
More than a dozen companies, such as Telefónica, Vodafone, Adamo, and Vera, are integrated into the system. In fact, 746 Catalan municipalities, representing 78.8% of the total, have adhered to the TelcoCat Protocol, a public-private agreement that facilitates this collaboration.
Detected incidents and impact on coverage
What are the most common problems?
Of the 459 incidents reported since October, 64.05% are related to mobile coverage, followed by broadband issues at 17.64%. There are also combined incidents and problems with DTT coverage.
Why are there peaks of incidents in winter?
The service has recorded an increase in incidents during the rainy and windy months characteristic of winter, which affect network quality. This information allows operators to better prepare and act more quickly to resolve problems.
Incident management and the future of the service
How does communication between administrations and operators improve?
The priority phone line is an open channel that ensures operators inform administrations periodically. This makes more transparent monitoring possible and more coordinated action to resolve incidents quickly.
What new features are expected with the 'InfoConnecta' platform?
The Government is working on integrating the priority phone line with 'InfoConnecta', a web platform that will allow municipalities to track incidents in real time. However, there is no concrete date yet for the launch of this new service.
Since its launch, the priority phone line has received 917 calls and identified 88 recurring incidents, which help detect weak points in the network. This information is key to more effective management and to strengthening telecommunications infrastructure.
