The public schools of the Terres de l'Ebre have a unique opportunity to leave behind years of waiting. More than 4.4 million euros have been put on the table to make urgent reforms a reality.

Between 2026 and 2028, the 52 municipalities of the Ebre region will receive 100% of the funds in advance to carry out works that will not only renew buildings but also make schools more accessible and energy efficient.

Details of the Reform, Adaptation, and Improvement Program (RAM)

How are the funds distributed?

The money is distributed according to very clear criteria that leave no room for chance. First, the number of students aged 3 to 12 enrolled in public centers is counted, based on official data from February 2026. In addition, old buildings receive an extra contribution: for each center built or rehabilitated before 2007, €37,300 is assigned, except if they are modular or already have an approved construction project.

The rural factor as a plus

This program does not forget rural areas, which are often the great forgotten in investments. Municipalities classified as rural will receive an additional contribution ranging from €6,000 to €10,000, depending on their classification. Also, €130 is added for each enrolled student. This is not a minor detail: it is a direct injection to prevent rural schools from falling behind.

What actions are financed?

Reforms and structural improvements

The works include the renovation of buildings, replacement of outdated elements such as roofs or carpentry, renewal of boilers and bathrooms, and adaptation of kitchens and dining rooms. All this to extend the useful life of the facilities that host thousands of students every day.

Efficiency and accessibility

Sustainability and safety have not been overlooked: measures to improve energy efficiency are incorporated, and accessibility for all is prioritized. In addition, asbestos-cement removal will be carried out, a gesture that not only improves the appearance but also guarantees healthier and more comfortable schools.

Impact and commitment in Terres de l'Ebre

Direct investment in the province of Tarragona

Although the program is for Terres de l'Ebre, its influence on Tarragonès and the rest of the province is clear. This injection of resources is a boost that everyone was waiting for, especially in areas far from the major urban centers.

Commitment to territorial equity

It is evident that the Department of Education and Vocational Training wants to go beyond simple maintenance. Betting on rural municipalities and ensuring that no school is forgotten is a commitment that, if translated into actions, can change the educational future of the province.

Concept Amount (€) Comment
Advance payment by municipalities 4,451,345.40 Assigned to the 52 Ebre municipalities
Extra for old buildings €37,300 per building For pre-2007 buildings, except modular
Rural contribution €6,000 - 10,000 According to rural classification
Complement per rural student €130 per student Extra for those enrolled in rural municipalities

The reality is that this economic injection could transform schools that have been calling for help for a long time. And, if all goes well, the educational community will be able to enjoy safer, more modern spaces adapted to real needs.
