The Sant Fèlix 2026 diada in Vilafranca del Penedès will feature the participation of the four most prominent colles: Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls, Colla Jove de Tarragona, Castellers de Vilafranca, and Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls. This castellera event, to be held on August 30, promises strong emotions and great challenges for all participating colles.

The draw held this Thursday at the Maria Rosa Juncosa Auditorium in Vilafranca established the order of performance, with Colla Vella opening the diada and Joves de Valls closing the rounds. Jove de Tarragona chose to perform in second position, which influenced the final order of the colles.

The performance of the four colles

The draw for the casteller events of Vilafranca’s major festival placed Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls first to perform on August 30, followed by Colla Jove dels Xiquets de Tarragona, then Castellers de Vilafranca, and finally Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls closing the day.

Jove de Tarragona’s decision to choose second position was key, as two colles cannot perform consecutively immediately, which set the definitive order. Additionally, Castellers de Vilafranca won the draw to open the events of the Festa Major dels Petits on September 1, and the Vigília event on August 29.

Context and importance of the Diada

The Sant Fèlix diada is one of the most awaited moments of the casteller season, especially in the Penedès region. This major festival in Vilafranca draws the attention of the colles and fans, who expect to see high-level castells and significant challenges.

With the grape harvest underway and a festive atmosphere, the diada becomes an essential meeting point for the colles and their supporters.

Forecasts and objectives of the participating colles

Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls

Manel Urbano, head of the Vella de Valls colla, faces the 66th Sant Fèlix Diada and the 53rd consecutive with a clear goal: to achieve the 3d10fm, which this year celebrates the tenth anniversary since it was first completed in Vilafranca.

Furthermore, Colla Vella has in mind possible attempts of castells such as the 4d9sf, 4d10fm or 5d9f, and the pd8fm for the pillar round.

Castellers de Vilafranca

Àngel Grau, head of the Castellers de Vilafranca colla, has expressed confidence in attempts at the two ten-floor castells, both the 3d10fm and the 4d10fm, with three- and four-in-hand bindings.

He also hinted at a possible attempt of pd9fmp. This will be the 61st performance of the greens for Sant Fèlix, except for the pandemic five years ago.

Expectations of Jove de Tarragona and Joves de Valls

Colla Jove de Tarragona

Jove de Tarragona, which will experience its 7th Sant Fèlix Diada since its debut in 1996, is hopeful of achieving a 3d10fm, according to its head, Gina Fort.

Nevertheless, they prefer to take it "castle by castle" and not rush the attempts.

Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls

Francesc Inglès, head of the Joves de Valls colla, faces the 47th diada on August 30, the 13th consecutive, with possible attempts of 4d9sf and td9fm, castells they have already completed in 2026.

Additionally, they consider possible the td8sf or the 5d9f, while the 3d10fm is a longer-term goal, planned for the Tarragona Contest in October.

The Sant Fèlix 2026 diada promises to be a day full of emotions, with colles arriving with great challenges and eagerness to demonstrate their skill. The combination of experience and enthusiasm will make Vilafranca the stage for a memorable castellera celebration.
