The former mayor of Reus, Carles Pellicer, has not been able to be located to testify as a witness in the Innova case in Tarragona.

The Tarragona Court has encountered a surprising gap: they have not located Carles Pellicer to make him testify. The judge admits that they only have an email address and that the hope of him showing up is almost nil.

The appointment was this Thursday at noon, but the former mayor of Reus has given no sign of life. This lack of location highlights a disorder that many may have already suspected: even institutions do not take seriously sending key notifications.

The failed attempt to locate the former mayor

The summons and the difficulties

Carles Pellicer was summoned to the Tarragona Court to testify as a witness in the Innova case, a trial that holds the attention of Catalan society.

But before the scheduled time, the magistrate announced that Pellicer had not been located. The only data provided for communication is an email, which at this point seems insufficient to guarantee his presence.

The judge’s response

The magistrate has explained that they do not know if Pellicer received or read the email informing him of the summons.

He added that the expectation that the former mayor will appear is very low. The situation raises questions beyond the case, about the effectiveness of official channels.

The context of the Innova case and Pellicer’s role

What is the Innova case?

The Innova case is a judicial process investigating alleged fraud and mismanagement linked to projects in Reus and its surroundings.

The testimony of key witnesses, such as former mayor Carles Pellicer, is essential to advance the investigation.

Pellicer and his relevance

As former mayor, Pellicer has a key role in clarifying the facts under suspicion.

His absence from the testimony creates a gap that may affect the pace of the trial and the public perception of the process.

The implications and the immediate future

What happens now with the testimony?

The Tarragona Court will have to decide how to proceed given the impossibility of making Pellicer appear as a witness.

The next steps could include new summons or other legal measures to ensure his presence.

Reactions and expectations

The lack of location has amazed citizens and involved parties, who expected a more dynamic trial.

The situation puts on the table the difficulty some politicians have in facing judicial processes, and the need for more effective notification mechanisms.

In the end, justice in Tarragona is left with a question that seems closer to fiction than reality: how can a former mayor disappear when he has to testify?

Reus expands the use of bollards to more streets. Find out where, when, and how to request access permits.

Mobility in Reus changes again with the expansion of the bollard system. This measure affects new streets and modifies schedules that residents need to know to avoid fines.

The Reus Urban Guard announced this expansion on June 9, 2026, which is already active. Permits to access regulated streets must be requested according to the new parameters published on the official website.

Which streets are incorporated into the bollard system?

New areas: affected zones and neighborhoods

The bollard regulation is not limited to a single point in the city. It expands to several streets that previously did not have this restriction.

Impact on residents and visitors

Access limited at specific times.

Without authorization, the bollard cannot be passed.

Facilitated access for residents and emergency services.

Schedules and regulation: when does the system operate?

Specific time slots

These schedules may vary depending on the street and the needs of each area. Therefore, consulting official information is key to avoiding misunderstandings.

Practical advice to avoid fines

Always check the updated schedules.

Request authorization if entry is needed outside the permitted period.

Pay attention to local signage and notices.

How to request access permits?

Application process

The process is online and requires providing personal data and justification of the need for access.

Documentation and deadlines

Required documentation includes identification and, if applicable, proof of residence or professional activity in the area.

Permits have limited validity and must be renewed to maintain access rights.

The Urban Guard reminds that circulating without permission may result in fines and other administrative sanctions.

If you have not yet informed yourself, the official website reus.cat/serveis/sistema-de-… offers all updated information and instructions to process permits.

The city wants to take a further step toward orderly mobility, but not everyone sees it the same way.

Reus inaugurates a Gaudí sculpture at Fossar Vell: bronze and stone to honor the architect with an unprecedented project.

A new work of art rises at the Fossar Vell of Reus to remember Antoni Gaudí with a 1.9-meter bronze figure. This sculpture shows the architect in a creative moment, modeling the facade of the Sanctuary of Mercy, a project never completed.

Reus, a city that never stops claiming the roots of its heritage, now presents a piece that unites history, art, and local memory at the foot of the bell tower of the Prioral de Sant Pere.

The sculpture and its context in Reus

Who is the author and what is his significance?

Joan Serramià, a sculptor of recognized prestige, signs this work that goes beyond a simple monument. His ability to capture the essence of Gaudí brings to life a figure that seems moved before the plaster, representing the moment of inspiration and unfinished project.

Where is it located exactly and why is it important?

The Fossar Vell, right at the foot of the bell tower of the Prioral de Sant Pere, is not just any place. This space is a nerve center of Reus, and placing the sculpture there makes Gaudí’s figure an active part of the daily life of the city and its inhabitants.

Technical and artistic details of the sculpture

What are the material characteristics of the piece?

The work consists of two pieces: a 1.9-meter-high bronze figure and a stone base. This combination adds weight and solemnity to the whole, creating a dialogue between the modernity of bronze and the solidity of stone, elements that resonate with Gaudí’s own architecture.

Which local artisans participated in its realization?

Stonecutter Joan Mateu has been key in shaping the stone base, while the Ginfer foundry contributed to the execution of the bronze. This local collaboration adds human value and closeness to the piece, reflecting the city’s involvement in preserving the memory of its illustrious son.

The project and its promotion

Who has driven the creation of the sculpture?

The Association Friends of Gaudí of Reus has been the soul behind the initiative, placing the city at the center of a cultural claim that recovers lesser-known episodes of the architect’s life.

What importance does it have for the local community?

This sculpture is not only a tribute but also a source of pride for Reus. It represents the link between past and present, inviting neighbors and visitors to view Gaudí with a new perspective, more human and close.

The reality is that this new piece at Fossar Vell will not go unnoticed. Its artistic and symbolic value strengthens the identity of Reus while provoking curiosity and conversation among the people who walk through the historic center.

Reus premieres a giant mural dedicated to Gaudí that combines urban art and digital technology to discover the legacy of the architect from Reus.

A giant mural now adorns the facade of the rectory of Sant Joan Baptista in Reus. This work is not just paint: it is a vibrant tribute to Antoni Gaudí, a universal figure who was born in the city and now returns home with renewed strength.

Standing 21 meters tall and covering nearly 140 square meters, the mural "Gaudí, from Reus to the world" is surprising not only for its size but also for the unique combination of urban art and digital technology that promises to captivate everyone who approaches it.

The mural: details and meaning

Artist and institutional support

The person responsible for this project is Jonatan Carranza, known as Sojo, a muralist and architect who has contributed his talent to the work. The initiative was driven by the Association of Friends of Gaudí of Reus with the support of the Reus City Council, the Tarragona Provincial Council, the Parish of Sant Joan Baptista, and various local companies. The inauguration ceremony featured notable attendees, including Mayor Sandra Guaita and institutional and cultural representatives.

Iconography and tribute to Gaudí

The mural represents different elements linked to Gaudí’s life and work, reinforcing the architect’s presence in the city that saw his birth. With a title as clear as it is evocative, "Gaudí, from Reus to the world," the work conveys the universal dimension of his legacy and the connection to his native city.

Integrated digital innovation

Second phase with interactive content

But the story doesn’t end here. In October, a second phase will be added that will bring the mural into the digital age. Artist Gala Mirissa will develop interactive digital content accessible via QR code. This will allow visitors to access 2D and 3D animations providing a visual and educational journey through Gaudí’s creative universe.

An experience beyond painting

With this innovative approach, the mural becomes a living, dynamic, and accessible element inviting discovery of Gaudí from a modern and technological perspective, moving away from a simple static memory and becoming a meeting point between art and interactivity.

Context and cultural projection

Gaudí Year 2026 in Reus

This intervention is one of the key actions in the Gaudí Year 2026 program, which commemorates the centenary of the architect’s death. The year is full of cultural, educational, and heritage activities that bring Gaudí closer to the public and strengthen his bond with his hometown.

Reus, city of Gaudí

With this initiative, Reus not only adds a new public space dedicated to Gaudí but also consolidates itself as a reference in preserving and projecting the legacy of the Reus genius. The city thus demonstrates that culture and technology can work hand in hand to offer innovative and enriching experiences to its residents and visitors.

Follow the Corpus events in Reus with flower carpets, the giants parade, and the afternoon procession, experience the tradition in the streets this June 7.

Today in Reus, the atmosphere lights up with the traditional Corpus events that fill the center with life and colors. The city transforms with flower carpets, an image that leaves no one indifferent and keeps alive a tradition with centuries of history.

The Reus Urban Guard has confirmed coverage of the events unfolding throughout the day, with iconic moments such as the giant figures’ parade and the procession taking place this afternoon.

Flower Carpets: a living mosaic in the center of Reus

The creation process and meaning

The flower carpets are the highlight of the Corpus celebration. Neighbors and organizations come together to create these floral mosaics that cover the most central streets. Each design is a symbol of devotion and ephemeral art.

Location and route

The carpets can mainly be seen on Major Street and around Mercadal Square, key points of the celebration where the most people gather to admire this collective artwork.

The Giants of Reus take to the streets

History and tradition of the giants

The giants are emblematic figures of Catalan popular culture. In Reus, this parade is a moment eagerly awaited by both young and old, who watch as these cardboard-and-plaster titans march through the streets with music and celebration.

Itinerary and schedule

The giants’ procession takes place in the early afternoon, covering streets such as Sant Joan, attracting a crowd that does not want to miss a single detail.

Corpus Procession: devotion and rhythm in the streets

Religious and social meaning

This afternoon’s procession is the most solemn and anticipated moment of the day. Neighbors gather to show their faith and keep the tradition alive, while music and songs accompany the route.

Recommendations for attendees

If you want to enjoy the procession, it’s best to arrive early to find a good spot along the route that passes through Prim Square and the Rambla Vella. Don’t forget to bring water and prepare yourself for an atmosphere full of emotion.

The Corpus celebration in Reus is not only a religious event, but a gathering that connects the city with its history and its people. Participating is more than watching an event: it is being part of a community that knows how to bring color and life to the streets.

The works to improve safety at Pallol and Doctor Robert Street in Reus will begin, and the system will be fully operational on July 20.

The vehicle movement in the Pallol neighborhood and Doctor Robert Street in Reus is about to undergo a noticeable change. The works to reorganize traffic have already begun, and everything points to circulation becoming much safer and more orderly.

The new system will start operating at full capacity from Monday, July 20, once the installations are completed and after a trial period designed for residents to process access permits and get used to the new operation.

Details of the traffic reorganization in Reus

Main objectives and scope of action

The intervention focuses on the area around Pallol and Doctor Robert Street, zones known for their traffic density and the need to improve road safety. The Reus City Council promotes this action with the aim of reducing traffic conflicts and facilitating better coexistence between vehicles and pedestrians.

How it will affect residents and users

The residents and merchants of the neighborhood will have to process specific authorizations to access the regulated areas. This trial period prior to the full operation of the system seeks to ensure everyone adapts without surprises and to avoid unnecessary inconveniences.

Operation and schedule of the new regulation

Installation phase and trial period

The technical installations have already started, and in the coming weeks adjustments will be made to ensure the system functions correctly. This trial period will allow detecting and correcting possible incidents before the definitive launch.

Key date for full operation

Monday, July 20 is the date set to begin applying the system at full capacity. From that moment on, traffic regulation will be effective, and residents must be registered with the corresponding permits to access freely.

Impact and expectations for local mobility

Improvement of road safety

This reorganization is expected to reduce accident risk and improve traffic flow at a key point in Reus. Pedestrian crossings and signage will be reviewed to ensure better coexistence between vehicles and people.

Adaptation and responses from residents

Changes are not always easy, but in this case, the transformation promises more safety and order that many residents have long demanded. It will be a challenge, yes, but also an opportunity to improve how we move and live in the neighborhood.

But beware, those who do not adapt will find themselves in a difficult situation starting July 20. The new rules are not a suggestion, but a reality that is here to stay.

It is fascinating to see how a simple traffic adjustment can change the dynamics of an entire neighborhood. This reorganization is not just a one-time measure but a turning point for local mobility, potentially opening the door to future improvements and other necessary adjustments.

If you are a resident or frequent visitor to the area, prepare for a change that, despite possible initial inconveniences, will end up being a relief for daily life.

Traffic restrictions at Mercadal Square on June 10, 13, 28, and 29 for the Major Festival of Sant Pere in Reus.

The streets of Reus are preparing for one of the most awaited moments of the year: the Festa Major de Sant Pere 2026. But, as always, it’s not all celebration and joy; mobility in the center will be affected, and this is not a minor detail if you live or work near Plaça del Mercadal.

Reus will impose specific access and circulation restrictions at the city’s most emblematic square for several days in June. This means that your usual parking spot or regular route home will be altered, and more than one will surely wonder: now what do I do?

Dates and times of the restrictions at Plaça del Mercadal

Schedule defined with specific times

The Reus Urban Guard has announced that these restrictions will start promptly on selected days, with timetables that leave little room for improvisation:

Wednesday, June 10 starting at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, June 13 starting at 6:30 a.m.

Saturday, June 28 starting at 6:30 a.m.

Sunday, June 29 starting at 7:30 a.m.

These periods coincide with key events of the Festa Major, moments when the square will fill with activities and people, and therefore vehicle restrictions are essential.

Direct impact for residents and visitors

The restrictions will affect both vehicular traffic and access to nearby parking facilities. This may mean longer trips or the use of public transport during these days. It might be a good time to plan alternatives or simply leave the car at home and enjoy the festival on foot.

Reason and regulation of the restrictions

Mayor’s decree to guarantee safety and coexistence

The Reus City Council, through a decree signed by the mayor, has made this mobility restriction official. The measure responds to the need to guarantee safety during the Festa Major, avoiding crowds and traffic conflicts in such a busy space as Plaça del Mercadal.

The Festa Major de Sant Pere, an event that moves the city

It is a celebration that attracts the attention of the entire region, with many traditional and modern activities drawing thousands of people. This year, the traffic restrictions are an unpleasant but necessary measure to ensure everyone can enjoy the atmosphere without complications.

Practical advice for locals and visitors

Mobility alternatives during the affected days

Use public transport or bicycle to access the center.

Park in designated areas outside the center and walk.

Check the Reus Urban Guard’s instructions before traveling.

Stay alert for new official information

The decree and restrictions may have updates or changes depending on the development of events or incidents. Following official channels like the Reus Urban Guard is key to avoid surprises.

Plaça del Mercadal will change its face for the Festa Major, and so will mobility. Did you know when and how it affects you?

Plan ahead and enjoy Reus’s big festival without complications.

From July 15 to 18, Reus hosts Contemporaneus 2026, an experimental music festival featuring local and international artists.

Reus transforms into a sound attraction hub that leaves no one indifferent. From July 15 to 18, the city becomes a space where contemporary music breaks molds and invites a unique cultural experience.

Contemporaneus 2026, with its main venue at Cal Massó, projects Reus as a benchmark for experimental sound creation and hybrid formats between music, audiovisual, and scenography, according to official data from the Reus City Council.

A festival that breaks molds in Reus

Varied and innovative programming

The festival mixes concerts, participatory actions, conferences, and cinema with live music. With a clear commitment to interdisciplinarity, electroacoustic music and sound art take center stage, with events also occupying public spaces.

One of the most outstanding activities is the artistic intervention at Plaça Prim around "In C" by Terry Riley, a fundamental piece of musical minimalism that will bring together local musicians in a collective performance directed by Joan Martí-Frasquier.

An experience that unites creators and audience

The festival is designed to connect composers, performers, visual creators, and audiences interested in new contemporary artistic practices. The open call for musicians wishing to participate in collective actions is a call to the artistic community.

Thus, Contemporaneus 2026 not only schedules concerts but creates a living and close creative ecosystem that amplifies Reus’s cultural outlook.

Local talents and international collaborations

The international dimension is reinforced with collaborations with the LEM Festival of Barcelona, the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion, and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute of Poland, consolidating Reus’s connection with the contemporary European scene.

This network expands the festival’s reach and positions the city as the epicenter of emerging sound creation.

Critical thinking and outreach activities

Conferences

Contemporaneus includes reflective activities such as the conference "A Walk Through 20th and 21st Century Music" led by Àlex Sansó with representatives from various cultural entities.

These spaces give depth and context to the festival, fostering debate and critical thinking.

Access and institutional support

Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s website or via a direct link. Contemporaneus is supported by the Reus City Council, Tarragona Provincial Council, ICEC, and other cultural entities.

This ensures the festival’s viability and projection, which bets on both free and paid activities to reach new audiences.

If you want to be part of Reus’s most daring sound experience, now you know where you have to be this July.

Discover how Reus strengthens children's leisure with three new play areas in the Fortuny neighborhood to promote coexistence and inclusion.

Three new children’s playgrounds arrive in the Fortuny neighborhood, bringing with them a direct focus on coexistence and healthy leisure. The play areas that almost no one used will now become meeting points for children of all ages and abilities.

The City Council of Reus has promoted the installation of these new parks at the Andalusia, Priorat, and Balearic Islands roundabouts, with an investment close to 118,000 euros and an assembly period that will not exceed 75 days, according to municipal sources.

The new play areas: what children will find

Priorat Roundabout: balance and accessibility

At Priorat, the proposal is clear: a multi-balance game to stimulate psychomotricity and coordination, designed so that children gain bodily confidence both individually and in groups. Additionally, there will be a turning game adapted for wheelchairs, and a wooden spring bike that allows multiple movements.

Balearic Islands Roundabout: adventure with inclusion

The Balearic Islands don’t lag behind: a 20-meter zip line, an inclusive seesaw and spring game, and a wooden playhouse for symbolic games will make any child eager to explore and share. All designed to combine fun and inclusion.

Andalusia Roundabout: challenges and more integration

Modular multi-game and adapted rotating games

In Andalusia, the service is reinforced with a multi-balance and climbing modular course that promises an hour and a half of continuous challenges. It will also feature a turning game adapted for wheelchairs and a multidirectional movement spring game, ensuring no one is left out.

A commitment to coexistence and equality

The key is clear: to offer a safe and stimulating space that fosters interaction among children of different ages and abilities. This is how Daniel Marcos, Public Roads Councilor, has defended it, assuring that investing in decent children’s playgrounds means betting on equality and social cohesion in the neighborhood.

Funding and institutional framework

A project with European funds and partnerships

The budget of nearly 118,000 euros comes from the Rehabilitation Program promoted by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the European Union, jointly managed by the Housing Agency of Catalonia and the City Council of Reus. This collaboration ensures that the actions go beyond the simple improvement of spaces, integrating into an urban and social regeneration project.

Tight deadlines for quick installation

The contract establishes a maximum term of 75 days to complete the installation from the contract formalization, aiming to prevent these spaces from being abandoned too long and so the community can enjoy them as soon as possible.

The reality is that, after so long with almost invisible play areas, Fortuny is preparing to become a neighborhood where children’s leisure stops being a luxury and becomes a necessity accessible to everyone.

The public development of 48 affordable housing units in La Riera is 95% complete, with completion expected by June 2026.

The municipal affordable housing development on La Riera is about to be completed. With 95% of the work completed, the project is expected to finish on June 19, 2026. But what lies behind this construction that promises to change the real estate landscape of Reus?

Promoted by the Reus City Council and managed by REDESSA, the development consists of 60 public protection housing units and 3 free-market rentals. The majority, 48, are under direct municipal management and are part of an innovative and sustainable initiative aimed at addressing access to housing.

Details of the development and current state of the works

Housing characteristics and expected occupancy

The 48 municipal housing units are divided into 26 two-bedroom, 18 three-bedroom, and 4 one-bedroom units. In total, they can accommodate up to 220 people. All apartments have private outdoor space and shared community areas.

Rental prices are not yet finalized, but are estimated to range between 350 and 500 euros per month, including expenses. It is expected that, between late 2026 and early 2027, both the La Riera and Mas Iglesias developments will be fully occupied.

Current phase and building areas

Currently, façade cladding, painting, solar protections, and interior details are being finalized. The ground floor will house the entrances and parking, while the rest is reserved for future public facilities.

The underground parking and exterior landscaping works are progressing on a parallel schedule. This section is key to completing the complex and ensuring functionality and quality of life for future residents.

Innovation and sustainability in construction

Structure and materials

Once on the façade, high-performance thermal insulation and wooden closures ensure optimal interior comfort both in winter and summer. The wood also aligns with European sustainability and energy efficiency criteria.

Community spaces and Next Generation funding

Design for coexistence

This detail reinforces the social aspect of the project, which not only offers affordable housing but also an environment designed for interaction and collective well-being.

European support for public housing

The reality is that Reus is about to have a development that combines affordable housing, construction innovation, and environmental commitment. The question is: when will the time come to see them full of residents?

Reus erects an original replica of Gaudí's Chapel in Gandhi Park, a tribute that strengthens the historical bond with the architect from Reus.

Reus will be the only city to reproduce an original work by Antoni Gaudí outside of Barcelona, and it does so on the centenary of his death. An initiative that not only honors the local genius but also promises to reactivate the city’s tourist and cultural appeal.

The Gresol Foundation, with municipal support, has promoted the construction of the Chapel of the Assumption, a project with enormous symbolic weight, located in Gandhi Park, near the Sanctuary of Mercy, on a plot ceded by the Reus City Council. This action comes at a key moment, after Pope Francis recognized Gaudí as venerable, advancing the beatification process.

A tribute to Gaudí by name

History and location of the replica

The Chapel of the Assumption, a work conceived by Gaudí for the Sagrada Família, will be reproduced in Reus for the first time outside Barcelona. The city, which never hosted any direct edition of its universal architect, thus puts an end to a historic absence. The chosen site, Gandhi Park, adds extra value for its proximity to a religious space like the Sanctuary of Mercy.

Municipal and cultural commitment

The Reus City Council not only cedes the land but also makes a clear gesture of support for this cultural project. This reaffirms the desire to put Reus on the Gaudí map, a link that seemed lost but is now resumed with strength and international visibility.

Cultural impact and global projection

Reus, capital of Gaudí-ism outside Barcelona

With this initiative, Reus will become the first city on the planet to exhibit an original work by Antoni Gaudí outside the Sagrada Família. This generates exceptional heritage and tourist value, which can shake the usual perception of Gaudí-ism, often exclusively associated with Barcelona.

Expected tourist and economic benefits

The project is not only a tribute but also presented as an opportunity to revitalize the local cultural and economic fabric. The Chapel, which will be blessed and open to worship, will attract visitors and scholars, increasing tourist flow and strengthening Reus’s image as a top heritage and architectural destination.

Project details and reactions

Characteristics of the replica

The reproduction of the Chapel of the Assumption will respect the original in every detail, maintaining the essence and characteristic style of Gaudí. This represents a technical and artistic challenge, which the Gresol Foundation faces with the collaboration of specialized experts and artisans.

Community and expert reactions

The initiative has received positive evaluations both locally and culturally. Experts point out that this project can become a turning point in the relationship between Gaudí and his hometown, opening the door to future actions that highlight his figure beyond the Barcelona sphere.

Reus will no longer be able to look in Gaudí’s mirror without seeing itself reflected. This project makes it clear that his legacy is not limited to the Catalan capital but expands with a replica that speaks of memory, culture, and opportunities.

The 63rd Volta Ciclista a la Província de Tarragona ends in Reus with a decisive stage full of climbs and adrenaline.

Reus will once again be the protagonist of one of the oldest and most prestigious cycling races in Spain, hosting the final stage of the 63rd International Cycling Tour of the Province of Tarragona.

The competition, with more than 125 riders, will take place over the weekend of June 6 and 7, with two stages full of excitement and a route that tests the athlete's endurance.

The oldest Tour that isn't the Tour

A race with history and prestige

The 63rd International Cycling Tour of the Province of Tarragona is no ordinary race: it is the oldest stage race in Spain and the third oldest in Europe, surpassed only by the Tour de France and the Tour of Belgium. Reus, as the host city of the final stretch, once again becomes the center of national cycling sport.

Organization and local impact

The race is organized by the Catalan Cycling Federation and Promoevents, with the collaboration of Reus Sport and Leisure. Beyond sport, the event will boost the local economy through sports tourism, with the participation of various institutions and local businesses. The 125 riders and their teams will bring activity and excitement to the city.

Two stages that will make the difference

The initial stage in El Perelló

On Saturday, June 6, the race will start in El Perelló. This first stage combines constant climbs and descents that will demand the cyclists maintain concentration and strength. The route passes through Riudecanyes, Vilanova d’Escornalbou, and Mont-roig del Camp before returning to El Perelló, a course that may reveal the differences among the favorites.

The final stage finishing in Reus

On Sunday the 7th, the race will culminate in Reus with a stage featuring more than 1,100 meters of elevation gain and crossing four counties: Baix Camp, Tarragonès, Baix Penedès, and Alt Camp. Key points such as the Salomó pass and the Coll de la Batalla, just 22.5 km from the finish, will be decisive for the final classification.

The finish in Reus: adrenaline guaranteed

The last kilometers

The final straight of more than one kilometer in front of the Central Market of Reus promises a spectacular finish. Riders will have to fight to neutralize breakaways and prepare for the final sprint in an atmosphere of maximum tension.

An event that projects the city

Besides the sport, the Tour is a showcase for Reus, positioning it as a stage for high-caliber events. This projection helps to boost economic activity and reinforce the city’s image as a reference for sports tourism.

In the end, the race will leave everyone wondering: who will manage to claim victory after such an intense battle?

Do you want to have a different summer full of solidarity? Families from the Camp de Tarragona have the opportunity to host a Sahrawi child during July and August.

The City Council of Reus, through the Solidarity and Cooperation Department, supports the project "Vacations in Peace 2026" promoted by the Hammada Association and the Sahrawi Delegation in Catalonia.

The Vacations in Peace 2026 Project

What is it and how does it work?

The program allows Sahrawi children aged between 9 and 11, from the Tindouf refugee camps (Algeria), to temporarily live with Catalan families during the summer months.

The main objective is to improve the quality of life of the children and promote intercultural education, while ensuring a stay full of recreational activities and institutional visits.

What is requested from host families?

Families must take responsibility for the child, ensure their well-being, and accompany them in all scheduled activities.

Additionally, they must have time, enthusiasm, and commitment to guarantee that the stay is positive and enriching for both parties.

Management and Support by the Hammada Association

Responsibilities of the Association

Finance the children's travel to Catalonia.

Manage all necessary documentation for the temporary hosting.

Support families during the children's stay.

Process the health card that facilitates access to the Catalan health system (CatSalut).

Organize recreational and cultural activities for the children.

How to contact to participate?

Interested families can call or send a WhatsApp message to 635 908 782 or write to hammadassociacio@gmail.com to get more information and formalize the hosting.

Participation is voluntary but the impact is direct on the lives of these refugee children.

Benefits and Commitment of the Project

Benefits for Sahrawi children

The stay in Catalonia allows children to temporarily escape the harsh conditions of the camps and enjoy a healthier, educational, and cultural life.

Likewise, it promotes coexistence and understanding among different cultures, enabling host families and children to create unique bonds.

Commitment of Host Families

Besides daily responsibility, families must ensure active participation in the scheduled activities and guarantee the child's overall well-being during their stay.

It is a commitment that requires dedication but rewards with unique experiences and values that will last forever.

Because hosting is not just opening the door, it is opening the heart.

The reality is that while Sahrawi children await a warmer summer, families from Camp have within reach the chance to transform lives.

Reus imposes a ban with strict rules for lighting bonfires on Sant Joan and Sant Pere. Discover the tips and obligations you must follow.

The bonfires of Sant Joan and Sant Pere in Reus are no longer free play. The mayor has published a decree that makes things very clear: allowed places, permitted materials, and how to properly extinguish the fire.

The decree, issued on May 29, 2026, details the safety measures that must be followed to avoid major mishaps during the festivities. The Reus City Council and the Urban Guard closely monitor to ensure that no one crosses the line.

Key rules for lighting bonfires in Reus

Authorized places and permitted materials

For this Sant Joan and Sant Pere, bonfires may only be lit in specific areas that guarantee everyone’s safety. Not just any place, nor any materials are allowed. The City Council has made it clear that non-flammable or controlled materials must be used, avoiding substances that could cause danger or pollution.

Extinguishing and fire prevention

One of the most notable points is that bonfires must be completely extinguished once the celebration is over. Not only to comply with the regulations but also to prevent any loose ember from becoming a serious problem. The Urban Guard's advice insists there is no room for improvisation.

Practical advice for citizens

How to act to avoid accidents

The Urban Guard of Reus reminds that responsibility lies with everyone. Security distances must be respected, and fire extinguishers or water should be kept at hand. No leaving the bonfire unattended or lighting it in areas with dry vegetation.

What to do in case of an incident

If any incident occurs, the recommendation is to immediately alert emergency services. Do not attempt to put out a large fire without professional help, as things could quickly get out of hand.

Control and penalties during the festivities

The Urban Guard on high alert

The Urban Guard officers of Reus will be especially vigilant during the nights of Sant Joan and Sant Pere to ensure the rules are followed. Not only for safety but to prevent easily avoidable problems.

Fines and legal consequences

Those who do not respect the decree risk sanctions ranging from fines to more serious liabilities if they cause a fire or material damage. The law doesn’t forgive when playing with fire.

If you were thinking about lighting a bonfire anywhere, you better get ready to follow the rules.

Discover the Planet Summer 2026 program with 114 free activities for young people in Reus, with more spots and options for those over 18 years old.

More than 2,300 places for healthy and inclusive activities await the youth of Reus this summer. Planet Summer grows and expands to reach more people with an offer that leaves no one behind.

The Youth Department of Reus presented this Thursday, May 28, the new edition of this program, with 114 proposals aimed at young people aged 12 to 29. The activities, mostly free, combine leisure, learning, and social inclusion, according to official data from the Reus City Council.

The consolidated and expanded program for youth

A leap in places and activities

Planet Summer 2026 offers a total of 2,300 places distributed across 104 activities with diverse themes, 5 escape rooms, and 5 recreational outings. Only the outings have a symbolic cost of 5 euros; the rest are free.

A notable expansion after a 20% increase in proposals compared to the previous year. Thus, the program has consolidated itself as a strong commitment to offering healthy and inclusive socialization spaces for the youth of Reus.

Inclusion and expansion for adults

Five activities include inclusive monitors for young people with disabilities, facilitating accompaniment and full participation. In addition, the offer for those over 18 years old is significantly expanded, with 25 accessible activities and 6 exclusive to this age group.

This commitment to inclusion and expanding options results in a more diverse offer adapted to the real interests of the youth collective.

Activity and outing proposals to enjoy the summer

Varied and themed activities

The program features activities spanning sports, culture, leisure, and learning. Escape rooms and workshops combine to create attractive experiences. The variety aims to attract young people with diverse tastes and boost their active participation.

Registrations will open on June 4 at 5:30 p.m., both in person and online, with a limit of 5 activities per participant to ensure rotation.

Recreational and discovery outings

Among the 5 outings, experiences stand out such as kayaking down the Ebro River, snorkeling on the Tarragona coast, and visiting the Tibidabo park in Barcelona. This selection combines leisure with territorial discovery, strengthening the connection with the local environment.

The cost of the outings is symbolic, to cover minimal expenses, while maintaining the goal of accessibility.

Collaboration and youth participation in the program

Associative network as a driving force

33% of the activities are organized by local entities, showing the involvement of the local associative network. This strengthens the connection between young people and organizations, making the programming more solid.

Additionally, 14 activities come from demands and interests gathered in participatory processes at schools, ensuring that the program responds to the real needs of the city’s youth.

A consolidated commitment to Youth

Councilor Daniel Marcos highlights that Planet Summer is already a recognized and eagerly awaited program by young people, who year after year show enthusiasm to participate, propose, and build their own spaces.

Driven by the Youth Department and in collaboration with Health and Sports and Education and Citizenship, Planet Summer is the direct heir of the Altersuer program and now reaches its eighth edition under this brand.

If you are between 12 and 29 years old and looking to fill your summer, Planet Summer 2026 could be the answer. But beware, places are limited and competition may be tough.

Reus paves 1,470 meters of the Mas de la Sena path to prevent it from becoming just another road.

Users of the Mas de la Sena and Burgaret roads are about to notice an unexpected change: new asphalt that aims to maintain the rural essence, but that smells like an investment not always welcome.

This May 2026, the Reus City Council has begun works to renew a 1,470-meter stretch of these roads, with the goal of making them safer and more comfortable, while limiting their transformation into a massive and aggressive thoroughfare.

Improvements and paving: what exactly is being done?

New pavement and reinforced drainage

The work consists of replacing the natural aggregate pavement with an asphalted surface, more resistant both to traffic and weather. This is not just laying a new layer: it includes an improvement in drainage to prevent the Cemetery ravine from filling with mud when it rains heavily and to avoid damage to the road.

A project that does not want to erase the rural character

Despite the improvements, the priority is that the road does not become an alternative route for vehicles looking to avoid the highway. Therefore, the project maintains landscape elements, such as trees, that invite walking or cycling, protecting the natural and agricultural environment.

Who is in charge and what does it cost?

Contract award and budget

The company in charge of paving is Tecnofirmes: Tecnología de Firmes S.A., and the total cost of the work is 164,898.80 euros VAT included. It’s not a figure to celebrate wildly, but it’s not something to ignore either.

Statements and public objectives

The Environment Councilor, Daniel Rubio, has highlighted that the intervention aims to ensure that the rural road network remains a space for agriculture and sustainable mobility, improving safety without losing the essence that makes this environment unique.

The reality and what’s left unsaid

Rural roads that want to be more than that

What the official discourse doesn’t say is that works like this can end up making these roads be seen more as an option for vehicles than for pedestrians or farmers. Paving is always double-edged: convenience or invasion.

An environment shaped by the ravine and the rain

Improving drainage is key because this road has suffered erosion and problems in recent years. The question is whether these works will be enough to withstand the intense rains that are becoming increasingly frequent.

The reality is that the Mas de la Sena road does not want to be a highway, but without asphalt, it also cannot continue to be a road that falls apart when it rains. And here lies the paradox.

If the road remains rural and safe, everyone wins. But if the paving turns it into a shortcut for cars, what we gain is a road that is thought to be a path and that will never be peaceful.

Discover the full program and the news of Corpus and the Major Festival of Sant Pere 2026 in Reus, with traditional events and electronic music.

Reus prepares to experience one of the most eagerly awaited festivals with a direct local impact. This year, the city celebrates four centuries of the relic of Saint Peter and seven hundred years of Corpus Christi, a combination that promises surprises and tradition in equal measure.

The program of events, presented on May 26, will run from June 4 to 30 with activities for all tastes and ages, organized by the Reus City Council in collaboration with local entities.

Highlights and special commemorations

Two additional tronades and commemorative events

This year, two more tronades are added to the usual ones: one on the afternoon of June 7 for Corpus and another on the morning of June 28 for Saint Peter. The latter includes an extraordinary event to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the relic of Saint Peter with the procession of the reliquary bust and the joint dance of the festive entourage to Mercadal Square.

25 years of the Ball de Galeres and retrospective exhibition

The 25th anniversary of the revival of the Ball de Galeres will be commemorated with an exhibition at the Castell del Cambrer and a parade on June 13, culminating with traditional dances and live music. In addition, new costumes made by a local tailor will debut, a detail that will not go unnoticed by lovers of tradition.

Corpus and Festa Major programming

Corpus: tradition, carpets, and cannon

The Corpus, from June 4 to 7, maintains its classics: dances of giants and the Mulassa, parade of the small elements, fire bulls, the dancing egg, creation of carpets, and the procession. The cannon will sound again on Saturday the 6th, an element that still awakens passion and excitement.

Accessibility, merchandise, and complementary activities

Attention to people with hypersensitivity and reduced mobility

As in other editions, quiet and platformed sections are set up for people with reduced mobility and sensory hypersensitivity, an aspect that is never overlooked and demonstrates the city’s commitment to inclusion.

Merchandise and spaces for families

Sale of products with Festa Major motifs, such as t-shirts and bracelets. In addition, a campaign is launched to facilitate families leaving strollers in designated areas, a detail that will help enjoy the events more comfortably.

A program that, between tradition and modernity, once again places Reus at the center of the festive agenda of the Camp de Tarragona.

Discover the 16th edition of Reus Viu el Vi with 20 wineries, 10 vermouths, and activities to enjoy from June 5 to 7 in Reus.

When June arrives, Reus transforms into the capital of wine and vermouth with Reus Viu el Vi, which this year celebrates its 16th edition. More than 20 wineries from 8 denominations of origin and a selection of vermouths come together to offer nearly 150 references to taste.

From June 5 to 7, the city hosts this fair, which is already a classic, with a clear commitment to highlight the wine richness and vermouth heritage of the Cambra territory.

The wineries and representation of the denominations of origin

Outstanding participation from the Regulatory Councils

This year, twenty wineries participate in the fair, mostly from the Cambra territory. They are joined by DO Conca de Barberà, Montsant, DOQ Priorat, Terra Alta, Tarragona, and Catalunya, as well as DO Cava and Penedès. This combination offers a complete and diverse panorama of what Camp de Tarragona can offer in wines.

Complete selection of wineries and vermouths

Agrícola Corbera d’Ebre (DO Terra Alta)

Celler Batea (DO Terra Alta)

Canals Nadal Caves i Vins (DO Penedès, DO Cava)

Additionally, the fair features a select representation of ten vermouth brands, which bring together the eight vermouths of the Cambra territory and two more guests, Casa Vermouth Padró and Dos Déus Vermouth.

Gastronomy, schedules, and access to the fair

Gastronomic offer as an essential complement

Reus Viu el Vi is not just wines and vermouths. There is also a gastronomic offer that makes your mouth water: establishments like Jaleo, Tapeo de carrer, Sabor de la Terra, or Guanyador Ganxet Pintxo bring their quality products to round out the experience.

The fair will be open on Friday, June 5 from 6 pm to 10 pm, Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th with morning hours (12 to 2:30 pm) and afternoon (6 to 10 pm on Saturday, 6 to 9 pm on Sunday). The access zones will be Plaça de la Llibertat and Plaça de l’Univers, with entry canceled through Plaça Anton Borrell.

To enter, you must purchase a pack according to the time slot you want to visit. Packs range from 10 to 17 euros and include tastings, a wine glass or vermouth glass, a hat, and a program. Advance purchase is made on the official website www.reusviuelvi.cat, with limited availability to control capacity.

Activities and previews that add flavor to the fair

Vermouth Showcase and family activities

The 7th Vermouth Showcase of Reus returns to be the highlight on Saturday and Sunday at midday, with emblematic brands such as Cori, Iris, Or del Camp, and Padró i Família. There will also be DJs throughout the fair, including a special session by Miqui Puig on Sunday afternoon.

Preview activities to warm up

June 1: "Shameless Tasting" at Fira Centre Comercial, a meeting where wine is the excuse to connect people and groups.

Reus Viu el Vi is, without a doubt, the wine and vermouth festival that turns the city into a meeting point for lovers of good wine, culture, and gastronomy.
