The CUP of Reus denounces the lack of a prison sentence request for the former mayor in the Innova trial after 14 years of accusation.

The CUP of Reus reproaches the City Council for not having requested prison for Lluís Miquel Pérez, one of the main accused in the Innova case. This situation has generated political tension and a call for responsibility from the anticapitalist party.

After 14 years of accusations, the reduction of sentences has raised doubts about the real course of the judicial process and the willingness to get to the bottom of the case.

Criticism of the City Council of Reus’ actions

Why does the CUP consider the City Council’s demand insufficient?

The CUP finds it contradictory that the City Council, as a private prosecution, has not asked for prison for Lluís Miquel Pérez, whom they consider one of the political figures responsible for corruption in the city. This absence of a penalty request has caused notable discomfort among the CUP members and critical sectors.

What has been Mayor Sandra Guaita’s position?

According to councilor Aleida López, the mayor did not speak at any time during the trial, which has been interpreted as a lack of political commitment given the seriousness of the facts.

The Prosecutor’s strategy and the reduced sentences

What does the Prosecutor’s strategy consist of?

The Prosecutor has opted for a strategy that has significantly reduced the sentences after 14 years of accusations, a decision that the CUP defends while regretting that the root of the case has not been reached.

How does this affect the citizens’ perception of the Innova case?

Citizens may feel frustrated by the sense that justice has not been entirely forceful or exemplary, especially when corruption is a sensitive and recurring issue in the city.

The political and social perspective of the Innova case

What impact does this case have on Reus’ local politics?

The Innova case leaves a difficult-to-overcome mark, highlighting the need for stricter controls and real transparency in public management.

What questions arise for the future?

Citizens ask whether cases like this will serve to change the political culture and prevent similar situations from happening again, or if we will continue in a cycle of symbolic condemnations and little real responsibility.

Discover how the Villablanca Foundation improves the lives of people with disabilities in Reus with adapted technical aids printed in 3D.

The Villablanca Foundation of Reus prints 3D technical aids that improve the autonomy of people with intellectual disabilities. These personalized solutions make daily life easier in aspects such as feeding and mobility, overcoming the limitations of standard products.

When we talk about support for people with disabilities, not everything fits the same. Market products often do not adapt to real needs, and this is where the innovation of the Villablanca Foundation comes in.

Innovation at the service of disability

Why is 3D printing key for the Villablanca Foundation?

3D printed technical aids allow the manufacturing of objects fully adapted to each person, which standard products do not offer. This customization means that 46% of people with disabilities who need support find effective solutions that increase their quality of life.

What objects does the center design?

The center designs aids for autonomy in feeding, mobility, and communication. For example, tools that facilitate wheelchair movement or adapted utensils for eating, all designed to increase user autonomy.

Local and social impact

How does this affect users from Reus and the surrounding area?

Users gain independence and quality of life, as the products are tailored to their specific abilities and needs. This reduces frustration and increases self-esteem, a key factor in social and personal inclusion.

What has been the community’s response?

The initiative has been well received by families and professionals, who see how personalized technical aids fill gaps that standard products cannot solve. It is a project that brings real value to the region.

Challenges and the future of the Foundation

What obstacles exist to expand this service?

One of the main challenges is access to the technology and resources to print and design the aids. Specific training is also needed to adapt to the changing needs of users and ensure maximum effectiveness.

What are the prospects for the Villablanca Foundation?

The Foundation aims to consolidate and expand this line with more personalized aid projects, enhancing the inclusion and autonomy of more people with disabilities in the province of Tarragona.

The Reus City Council will install 19 speed bumps on Pintor Fuster Street to improve road safety and control the traffic of more than 4,000 vehicles...

The Reus City Council will install 19 speed bumps on Pintor Fuster Street to slow down vehicles exceeding 30 km/h. This measure arises after a study detected more than 4,000 vehicles daily and speeds that endanger pedestrians.

Many residents have requested concrete actions to ensure safety, especially at pedestrian crossings, and will now see changes on the road to prevent accidents and disturbances.

The intervention on Pintor Fuster Street: what will be done and why it matters

What types of speed bumps will be installed and how do they work?

Up to 19 speed cushions will be placed, a type of speed bump that forces vehicles to reduce speed.

These elements are designed to have less impact on buses and trucks, since their wider axle passes more comfortably, reducing noise and rattling, which improves comfort and safety without harming public transport or cargo.

Why is this speed control necessary right now?

The Urban Guard study shows that the average speed exceeds the allowed limit of 30 km/h.

With more than 4,000 vehicles traveling daily, the risk for pedestrians is high. Additionally, the presence of trucks is constant despite the night ban between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Other complementary measures to ensure safer traffic in Reus

What modifications will be made to the road to enhance safety?

Besides the speed bumps, traffic lanes will be repainted, making them narrower to reduce the drivers’ sense of priority and slow down speed.

Roundabout markings will also be painted at intersections, and bollards will be installed along the street’s centerline to prevent overtaking and evasion of the speed bumps.

Will there be actions at other points in Reus related to this?

Yes. On Velers Street, two speed cushions will be installed to protect the pedestrian crossing in front of the Pastoreta football field.

Also, on Salou Avenue, between Flix Street and the T-11 roundabout, two speed humps will be placed to control speed before crossings and roundabouts.

Impact on residents and traffic: what will change and what to expect

How will the new signage and speed bumps affect residents?

With the speed reduction, pedestrian crossings will be safer, and noise and jolts from large vehicles will be minimized.

Moreover, the existing nighttime truck ban will remain in force, and it is expected that some trucks will choose alternative routes such as Sant Bernat Calbó Avenue.

When will it be implemented and how will coexistence with daily traffic be managed?

The project will be carried out soon, according to the Urban Guard’s Mobility and Circulation forecasts.

Coexistence with more than 4,000 vehicles daily will be managed with the new signage, speed bumps, and reinforced measures to ensure that speed remains within legal limits.

The reality is that this remodel is a very necessary step to ensure that Pintor Fuster Street stops being a way where vehicles pass too fast and uncontrolled, improving the area's safety and the residents’ quality of life.

The Innova trial is now ready for judgment after more than a month and a half and the reduction of the sentences. The defenses deny the wrongdoing and demand...

The trial of the main Innova case in Tarragona has concluded after 14 years of accusations and more than a month and a half of sessions. The defenses have requested the acquittal of the six defendants who did not reach a plea deal with the Prosecutor's Office and have rejected the allegation of malfeasance.

Amid arguments and tensions, the procedure has revealed a personal and judicial toll that still weighs on the investigated parties, while awaiting the final verdict.

Context and development of the Innova trial in Tarragona

What happened during the trial?

The trial has reached its end, now pending sentencing after more than 45 days of sessions. The accusations have reduced their prison requests, a move that marked the final tone of the process. The defenses, on the other hand, have insisted on their clients' innocence and have questioned the evidence of malfeasance.

What are the most controversial points of the procedure?

The Innova case has focused on the management of the municipal holding company, especially on contracting and economic control. Lluís Miquel Pérez’s defense has pointed to the auditor and the municipal secretary as responsible for oversight, distancing their client from the irregularities. For his part, Carles Manté’s lawyer has argued that he performed all the tasks attributed to him without any wrongdoing.

Human and legal impact of the Innova case

How has the process affected the defendants?

The long duration of the accusation, spanning 14 years, has had a strong personal impact on the investigated parties. The defenses have highlighted the emotional and social cost it has meant for them to remain under suspicion for such a long time, a situation some have considered unfair and disproportionate.

Why is this trial relevant for Tarragona?

The Innova case directly affects trust in Tarragona’s public management. The judicial resolution may set a precedent in how municipal holdings are overseen and in the accountability of public officials. For citizens, it represents an opportunity to see if responsibilities are addressed and public interests protected.

Perspectives and next steps in the judicial process

When will the verdict be known?

With the trial now pending sentencing, it is in the court’s hands to issue the final resolution. No specific date has been set, but it is expected to come in the coming weeks. This decision will put an end to a case that has had great resonance in Tarragona.

What consequences could the verdict have?

If the defendants are acquitted, it would be a setback for the accusations and could spark debate about the case’s duration and management. Conversely, if malfeasance is confirmed, prison sentences and sanctions could be imposed, as well as opening the door to reforms in the supervision of municipal holdings to avoid similar situations.

The reality is that the Innova trial is not only about people and judicial procedures, but about how public trust is managed and the responsibilities that derive from it. The outcome will mark a before and after for Tarragona and its citizens.

Young migrants paint a mural in Reus against hate and the extreme right. Discover how this work strengthens the Fortuny neighborhood community.

A group of young migrants has created an anti-racist mural advocating social cohesion in Reus, especially in the Fortuny neighborhood. This artistic initiative comes at a delicate time, after a far-right party exposed local families on social media with messages that promote hate.

The project 'Breaking Down Walls' not only reflects personal experiences but also sends a clear message: the community rejects division and supports respect and coexistence.

The Creation of the Mural in Fortuny

What does the anti-racist mural in Reus symbolize?

The mural is a collaborative project where young migrants express their experience and fight against exclusion. It represents a broken wall, a symbol of barriers that must be overcome to build a fairer society.

How was the artistic initiative developed?

Organized at the Fortuny Adult Education Center, the proposal has involved active participation from the youth, who have conveyed their feelings and demands through urban art, with support from various local entities.

Community and Political Response

How have the city council and community reacted to the far-right?

Mayor Sandra Guaita has publicly condemned the video spread by Vox, which singled out families from a school in Reus. She emphasized the need to defend neighborhood unity and reject any attempt at division.

What importance does this mural have for local coexistence?

The mural serves as a space for resistance and dialogue, strengthening ties among neighbors and highlighting rejection of hate speech, especially in culturally diverse areas like Fortuny.

Social and Cultural Impact

Why is it relevant that young migrants lead this initiative?

Giving a voice to the direct protagonists of migration brings authenticity and humanity to the anti-racist message, breaking stereotypes and making visible their contribution and integration into the city.

How can this action inspire other neighborhoods in Tarragona?

This experience can serve as a model for other communities that need creative tools to fight intolerance and build bridges between different groups.

With this mural, the Fortuny neighborhood not only gains color but also reaffirms itself as a space where diversity is actively defended. The initiative shows that art can be a powerful weapon against intolerance.

This project not only gives voice to a generation that is often sidelined but also challenges narratives that seek to divide society. The message is clear: coexistence and respect are the future of Reus.

Discover how the Gaudí Train connects the key points of Reus to boost local commerce during summer 2026.

The Reus Shopkeepers' Union launches the Gaudí Train to boost local commerce during the summer. This initiative will travel through the city's most emblematic streets, offering a unique route for residents and visitors.

With a clear commitment to revitalizing local commerce, the train will connect points such as Raval de Santa Anna and La Fira Shopping Center, providing a new and attractive experience that goes beyond simple shopping.

The Gaudí Train Project

What is the Gaudí Train and how will it operate?

The Gaudí Train is an initiative of the Reus Shopkeepers' Union (UBR) that will run during the summer, from July 1 to August 29, aimed at promoting and energizing local commerce. It operates from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., coinciding with the times of highest tourist flow in the city.

It will make two routes with stops at strategic points: Raval de Santa Anna, Portal de Jesús, Fossar Vell, Central Market, and La Fira Shopping Center, creating a direct connection between commercial areas and points of interest.

Which points of interest does the train connect?

The route has been designed to link key places of local commerce and culture. This means it not only serves as transportation but also offers a tourist route with added value. Thus, the train helps to highlight the city and its emblematic establishments.

Furthermore, during the journey passengers can access an audio guide via a QR code with tourist and commercial content related to the route, enhancing the experience for users.

How to participate and what it offers users

How can I board the Gaudí Train and what is the cost?

Boarding the train is easy and accessible. Customers who make purchases at stores affiliated with the Reus Shopkeepers' Union or at La Fira Shopping Center can obtain free tickets valid for a single journey, turning every purchase into an experience with an immediate reward.

There is also the option to purchase a paid ticket for 5 euros, which allows unlimited boarding and disembarking throughout the day. This dual ticket system encourages both loyalty and flexibility for users.

What key event does the initiative have for this summer?

The inauguration of the Gaudí Train will take place on July 1 at 8:00 p.m., with a summer party at SoldeNit. Attendees, with prior invitation or registration, will be able to get to know the new train and enjoy a festive atmosphere with live music, creating a meeting space between merchants and residents.

This presentation is a clear sign of UBR's commitment to making summer a time of activity and vitality for downtown Reus.

Impact and commitment to local commerce

Why is this initiative key for local commerce?

The Gaudí Train is not just a means of transport but a commitment to strengthen the commercial fabric of Reus in a crucial period. In a city with numerous century-old shops, the goal is to keep this commercial DNA alive and make it attractive to everyone.

The train bets on innovation and visibility for local shops, with the intention that residents and tourists explore and discover all the offerings the city can provide.

How is the link between commerce and tourism strengthened?

The combination of the train with the digital audio guide creates added value that connects culture, history, and commerce. This allows the visit to become a complete experience, not just a journey or a purchase.

From the Reus Shopkeepers' Union, they want to continue this approach throughout the year, but especially during the summer, when the city becomes more dynamic and receptive to new initiatives that generate economic and social movement.

With this project, the Reus Shopkeepers' Union confirms that local commerce can innovate and adapt to new times without losing its essence. A train that not only transports people but also drives the city and its commercial heart.

The question is: are you ready to board and discover the city in a different way?

If you are a resident or tourist looking for a unique experience, the Gaudí Train is the most comfortable and fun way to get to know Reus and its old and new shops. Don’t just hear about it, live it firsthand.

In the end, this initiative doesn’t just move streets, but also moves people, purchases, and hopes that the city needs to keep growing.

Discover the musical cycle of the Gaudí Year in Reus that combines heritage, history, and music in emblematic spaces of the architect Antoni Gaudí.

The Gaudí Year 2026 promotes in Reus a concert series in spaces that tell the past, present, and legacy of the architect Antoni Gaudí. This initiative combines music, heritage, and contemporary creation to bring Gaudí’s legacy to life in his hometown.

With musical proposals designed for iconic spaces, the series invites you to discover the universal figure of Gaudí from a contemporary and culturally enriching perspective.

A musical cycle that connects history and creation in Reus

Which spaces in Reus host the Gaudí Year concert series?

The series takes place in three key locations: the Gaudí Neighborhood, the Salvador Vilaseca Institute, and the Reus Museum. Each space offers a different dimension of Gaudí and his relationship with the city.

How is the artistic and musical selection of the series presented?

The concerts include proposals that fuse tradition and experimentation, with artists such as Diëresis, Júlia Colom, Los Sara Fontan, and Anna Amigó. These voices bring contemporary sensitivity and a dialogue with cultural roots, creating a unique experience for attendees.

The artistic direction, led by the Anima't Association and the Muses Festival, has ensured coherence between the message of the Gaudí Year and the uniqueness of the spaces, reinforcing the idea of interdisciplinary creation rich in nuances.

Music as a tool to interpret Gaudí’s legacy

Why is music key for the Gaudí Year in Reus?

Although Gaudí did not focus his work on music, he conceived artistic creation as a dialogue between different disciplines, where rhythm and harmony play a fundamental role. This series uses music to make his legacy accessible and moving for today’s citizens.

The initiative aims to generate new cultural experiences that connect the past with the present, bringing the architect closer through a universal language such as music.

Which dates and artists are part of the Gaudí Year series?

The programming starts on July 3 and 9 in the Gaudí Neighborhood with Diëresis and Júlia Colom. On October 23, Los Sara Fontan will perform at the Salvador Vilaseca Institute, and finally, on November 20, Anna Amigó will close the series at the Reus Museum.

All concerts are free and require prior reservation at ticket.reusturisme.cat, facilitating access to a wide audience interested in local culture and history.

Gaudí’s legacy from the spaces that tell his story

How is the architecture of the Gaudí Neighborhood related to the figure of the architect?

The Gaudí Neighborhood symbolizes the effort to surpass the conventional limits of architecture, as Gaudí did. The project bets on community and integration between space and daily life, an evident parallel with Gaudí’s innovative spirit.

This relationship makes the neighborhood an ideal stage for concerts that generate a dialogue between architecture, music, and society.

What importance does the conservation of Gaudí’s legacy hold at the Reus Museum?

The Reus Museum houses an exceptional collection of original Gaudí objects, such as drawings and personal documents, thanks to the work of local figures who preserved this heritage despite the workshop fire in 1936.

This space represents the living memory of Gaudí in Reus and is a meeting point to better understand his global influence starting from his hometown.

With this series, the Gaudí Year reaffirms its commitment to connecting heritage, music, and citizenship in Reus. The initiative not only highlights the figure of the architect but also creates a living bridge between history and contemporary creativity, bringing his legacy closer to a diverse and current audience.

The Mobility Ordinance in Reus requires vehicles to be removed before events. Find out how to avoid fines and impoundments with the correct signage.

The Reus Mobility Ordinance allows for the removal of vehicles from public roads when there are street events. This measure aims to ensure safety and fluidity during events and celebrations.

If you are a regular driver in the city, it’s best to understand how it works to avoid unpleasant surprises, such as having to go to the impound lot to collect your car. This is no joke.

What exactly does the Reus Mobility Ordinance say?

Why is vehicle removal authorized?

The ordinance establishes that, due to street events, any vehicle that causes obstruction or danger on public roads may be removed. This includes major festivals, demonstrations, or any event that requires a free and safe space.

How and when should the prohibition be notified?

The parking ban must be announced at least 48 hours in advance. This means that visible signs must be placed at least two days before the event to ensure everyone has time to move their car.

How does this affect drivers in Reus?

What are the consequences of not respecting the signage?

If the ban is ignored and a vehicle is left in a restricted area, the Urban Guard can remove it and take it to the municipal impound lot. This entails fines and additional expenses, as well as the inconvenience of retrieving the vehicle.

What practical advice does the Urban Guard recommend?

Always check the signage before parking.

Pay attention to event announcements that might affect your usual parking spot.

Move the vehicle in time to avoid penalties.

How to better plan trips during street events?

What alternatives do Reus drivers have?

During events with restrictions, it is advisable to use designated parking lots or opt for alternative transportation such as the bus. This way, problems are avoided and a better urban coexistence is promoted.

When is vehicle removal most common?

The key days are during the major festivals or large-scale events, where traffic and public space are much more controlled. Knowing this allows you to anticipate and avoid unpleasant situations.

In short, information and prevention are key to avoiding vehicle removal. Watch the signage and don’t let a detail cause you to lose time and money.

The Reus Urban Guard reminds that the rule is clear: the prohibition must be posted 48 hours in advance. If it isn’t, no sanction can be applied. But don’t take the risk.

Enjoy free outdoor cinema every Thursday in July at the CIMIR in Reus with documentaries and biopics that shape collective memory.

The Memorimage d'Estiu 2026 will turn July Thursdays into free open-air movie nights in Reus. Five documentary and biographical films with archive footage will fill the plaza of the Centre de la Imatge Mas Iglesias (CIMIR), offering unique perspectives on emblematic figures and historic moments.

The festival reinforces its commitment to an audience that values collective memory and reflection through cinema, offering a free cultural meeting space outdoors, near the city center.

Program and protagonists of Memorimage d’Estiu 2026

Which films can be seen each Thursday?

The festival presents five carefully selected titles, each with a story that connects to memory and popular culture:

July 2: Flores para Antonio, an intimate portrait of Antonio Flores with family materials and the voice of Alba Flores.

July 9: El silencio de otros, which claims the memory of the victims of Francoism and their fight for justice.

July 16: Searching for Sugar Man, the fascinating story of musician Sixto Rodríguez and his legend in South Africa.

July 23: The Queen, which explores the British monarchy after Princess Diana’s death.

July 30: Diego Maradona, a documentary that reveals the complexity and genius of the Argentine footballer.

What unites these films?

They all share a common point: the use of archive footage that allows the reconstruction of personal and collective stories. They are visual testimonies that bring the audience closer to figures who have left a mark on culture and recent history.

This makes the festival not only a leisure space but also one for reflection on how public narratives are constructed and how memory persists over time, through documentary and biographical cinema.

Location and experience: why watch them at CIMIR?

Where will the festival take place and why is it special?

The screenings will take place at the plaza of the Centre de la Imatge Mas Iglesias (CIMIR), an emblematic space in Reus ideal for enjoying open-air cinema. The location facilitates access on foot from the center and creates an atmosphere of closeness and community that fits the spirit of the festival.

In addition, the free admission means anyone can come without barriers, in a safe and pleasant environment, where culture becomes accessible and shared.

How does this affect residents and visitors?

For Reus residents, it is an opportunity to rediscover spaces and share cultural moments in company. For visitors, it represents one more reason to come to the city during the summer and discover the cultural richness it offers beyond conventional tourism.

July nights will become a ritual that combines cinema, open air, and company, strengthening the cultural identity of Reus.

Festivals and calls: what else is in the Memorimage programming?

When will the next main festival edition be?

The Festival Memorimage 2026, its main edition, will be held from November 4 to 7 at the Teatre Bartrina in Reus. This will be the 21st edition and will continue to commit to the best selection of films with archive footage.

The call for film submissions is already open until mid-July, offering creators the opportunity to showcase their works on an established stage.

Why is this call important for the city?

The call reinforces Reus as a reference point for lovers of documentary and archive cinema, attracts professionals and audiences seeking more than conventional cinema, and contributes to energizing local culture and its international projection.

This double event, between July and November, keeps interest in documentary cinema alive and puts Reus in the cultural spotlight for much of the year.

The Bartrina Theatre in Reus hosts 304 people from social organizations in an adapted Camerata XXI concert as part of Apropa Cultura's 20th anniversary.

304 people from social organizations in the area enjoyed live music performed by the Camerata XXI Orchestra this Friday morning at the Bartrina Theatre in Reus. An initiative that breaks down barriers and makes culture accessible to those who need it most.

The concert, organized as part of Apropa Cultura’s 20th anniversary, brought together attendees from 14 social organizations in the Camp de Tarragona region and various Inclusive Community Action projects from the Reus City Council, in a format adapted for people in vulnerable situations.

Adapted and inclusive concert in Reus

A format that respects diversity

The proposal "La Camerata XXI s’Apropa" was held using a relaxed session model that adjusts lighting, volume, and concert pace to ensure the comfort of attendees. This way, everyone could move or react freely, experiencing the music without pressure and in an accessible environment.

Additionally, a relaxed entry was implemented, allowing staggered access to the hall, avoiding queues or crowds that cause stress. Altogether, this makes it possible for everyone to enjoy the experience at their own pace from the very beginning.

Social organizations and diversity at the heart of cultural action

This range shows the diversity of people and groups who fight daily to break down social and cultural barriers in the area. Women and elderly people involved in Inclusive Community Action projects from the City Council were also part of this experience.

Apropa Cultura, 20 years of commitment

The Apropa Cultura program celebrates two decades of social and cultural activity this year, with a consolidated presence in Reus since 2012. The Bartrina and Fortuny theatres are part of this network that facilitates cultural access for people in vulnerable situations.

During 2025, 689 tickets were provided through this program to social organizations in the city, reinforcing the commitment between culture and social inclusion in the Tarragona region.

Camerata XXI: music, education, and community in Tarragona

Artistic and social projects rooted in Reus

The Camerata XXI Foundation is a cultural benchmark that promotes over 130 annual activities in the Tarragona counties. With the Camerata XXI Orchestra - City of Reus as its main project, it works to generate value through music, combining artistic excellence with social and educational actions.

This commitment to a local and participatory culture collaborates with municipalities and communities, consolidating bonds and fostering the cultural development of the area.

An experience that goes beyond the concert

Camerata XXI’s involvement is not limited to programming but also includes the creation of accessible and inclusive spaces, where music becomes a tool for social cohesion and community well-being.

This concert at the Bartrina Theatre is a clear example: an activity designed so that everyone, regardless of their situation, can enjoy a full and respectful cultural experience.

The reality is that, while some still seek excuses not to open the door to everyone, in Reus music has been breaking down walls and connecting people for years.

Young migrants from Reus will create an anti-racist mural in Fortuny to reflect on racism and human rights on the occasion of World Refugee Day.

Migrant youth from Reus will participate in the creation of an anti-racist mural that will shake the Fortuny neighborhood during the first days of July. This artistic initiative aims to put the fight against racism and the defense of human rights at the forefront from the perspective of migrated youth.

The proposal, promoted by the Reus City Council, will take place at the Adult Education Center on Astorga Street, with the collaboration of the NGO Kakolum and CFA Reus, coinciding with the commemoration of World Refugee Day on June 20.

The mural project: education and artistic expression in Fortuny

What will the migrant youth do?

During July 1, 2, and 3, young people between 18 and 20 years old from Gambia and Senegal will reflect on topics such as racism, migration, and human rights. The initial sessions will be formative and participatory, creating a space to share experiences and design the message that must be conveyed on the mural.

How will the mural be created?

On July 3, the painting will be carried out on the exterior wall of the Adult Education Center, guided by two experts in graffiti. Thus, the wall will not only be a work of art but also a community act seeking to transform social perception about coexistence and inclusion.

Context and local collaborations

Who promotes the initiative?

The Reus City Council, through the areas of Immigration and Solidarity and Cooperation of the Department of Services to People and Social Rights, leads this project. The NGO Kakolum, with a recognized trajectory in defending the right to migrate and social justice, provides experience and support to the participating youth.

Other related activities

The mural is part of a broader program that includes subsequent activities, such as a sewing workshop with African fabrics at the Llevant Civic Center and a Solidarity Cinema session outdoors, featuring the film Returning Home. These actions are supported by the entity La Veu entre Cultures.

World Refugee Day: reading of the manifesto and local commitment

What was read at the Reus City Council meeting?

On the morning of June 19, the Reus City Council plenary session hosted the reading of the World Refugee Day manifesto, driven by the Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation. The text denounces the global human rights crisis, with special emphasis on conflicts such as Gaza, Lebanon, and other forced displacement zones.

Commitment and action from local government

The manifesto calls for legal and safe pathways to protect the lives of people on the move and reaffirms the commitment of Catalan local governments to guarantee human rights and fight racism and indifference. This translates into local actions like the mural and other solidarity initiatives.

If you wonder how all this translates to Reus, here is the answer: a mural that will not only paint colors but also make noise.

Reus rejects hate and stigmatization with an anti-fascist institutional declaration approved by the Plenary on June 19.

Reus stands up to hate speech and discrimination with an antifascist institutional declaration approved this Friday. The city reaffirms that it will not tolerate any attack against the rights or dignity of its people, especially children.

The public reading of this manifesto was done by the mayor, Sandra Guaita, during the City Council session on June 19, after the Board of Spokespersons gave the green light to the text condemning stigmatization in all its forms.

A firm commitment against fascist speech

Rejection of division and fear

The City Council of Reus has made it clear that any speech attempting to fragment the city or sow fear is a red line that will not be accepted. No attempt to stigmatize diverse groups or question human dignity, especially that of children, will be tolerated.

A pact for coexistence and respect

The council has committed to working for a society that values coexistence, respect, and tolerance. The declaration highlights the need to combat fascism and the speeches that promote division, making Reus a more cohesive city proud of its plural character.

The defense of educational centers as inviolable spaces

Attacking children is attacking society

In the face of attempts to target children and educational centers, the institutional text denounces that targeting these spaces or families is unacceptable. Educational centers are fundamental pillars for opportunity, respect, and coexistence.

Fundamental rights above all

The City Council reaffirms that it will defend fundamental rights, social cohesion, and democratic coexistence without reservations. It will do so with all the tools of the institutions and the rule of law, firmly and calmly.

Reus, a city that advances with dignity and shared values

We build without fear or exclusion

The declaration insists that Reus cannot be built from fear or exclusion but from respect and dignity. Shared values are the foundation for advancing as a community.

A clear response to stigmatization and hate

With a resounding "No to stigmatization, No to discrimination, and No to hate speech," the city raises its voice against all kinds of hatred and exclusion and clearly positions itself in defense of plurality and peaceful coexistence.

Those who want to sow discord will not escape: in Reus, hate speech knows where it is not welcome.

Reus will create a large 18-hectare space for active and healthy leisure. Imminent ideas contest to define the city's new green lung.

Reus is preparing to transform an 18-hectare area into a large green space between the stadium and the municipal swimming pools. This extension, equivalent to 25 soccer fields, aims to be the new meeting and leisure point for all families.

The City Council will soon announce a ideas competition to decide what this green lung will be like, promising a safe environment designed for multi-sport and popular activities. The news was given by Mayor Sandra Guaita this week.

Details of the green project

Location and exact surface area

The green area will be located between the Reus stadium and the municipal swimming pools, right in the heart of the city. With 18 hectares, the surface area is equivalent to 25 soccer fields, a figure that already gives a clear idea of the scale of the project.

Objectives and expected uses

According to Mayor Sandra Guaita, the project aims to create an active and healthy leisure space. The idea is for it to be a place for the whole family, where sports can be practiced in a popular and varied way, in a green and safe environment. In her words, it will be "the largest green lung in the city."

Ideas competition to define the space

Upcoming publication of the competition

The Reus City Council is preparing to publish the ideas competition that will define what the green area will finally be like. This competition will allow collecting diverse and fresh proposals, ensuring that the space adapts to the real needs of the neighbors.

Participation and citizen involvement

The competition seeks to involve both professionals and residents, so that the project responds to the city's expectations. This process is expected to generate debate and participation, which could prevent the area from becoming just another park.

Impact for Reus and its residents

Improvement of quality of life

A green space of this magnitude in the very center of Reus can change the way inhabitants experience the city. More areas for sports, socialization, and nature, right at their doorstep.

Challenges and expectations

Despite the enthusiasm, questions remain open: how will maintenance be managed? How will it be prevented from becoming a neglected space? And, above all, how will it be ensured that this green lung is genuinely used by everyone?

The reality is that Reus is embarking on a project that could transform the urban space, but it will have to prove that it is not just a good headline.

The State Comptroller denounces direct and unguaranteed contracts in Innova's agreements with CCM Estratègies in Tarragona.

The contracts between Innova and CCM Estratègies in Tarragona did not follow public procurement law. The State auditor has raised irregularities in the contracting that directly affect the established legal procedures.

According to the expert, the direct contracting without proof of solvency of CCM Estratègies carried out by Josep Prat, general director of Innova, contradicts current regulations and calls into question the transparency of the process.

The ignored legal requirements

Procedures with competition and publicity

The auditor has confirmed that the contracts should have followed procedures with competition and publicity. This implies that the process should have been opened to several companies to compete under transparent conditions.

Article 2.1 of the Public Administration Contracts Law, approved by Royal Decree 2/2000, is clear on this point: contracts must guarantee the capacity and economic solvency of the awarded companies, as well as the publicity of the offers.

Direct contracting without guarantees

The general director of Innova, Josep Prat, chose direct contracting with CCM Estratègies i Salut, S.L., without proving the company's capacity or economic solvency.

This key detail questions the legality of the contracts and the holding's internal management, casting doubt on the controls and supervision that should have been applied.

The role of CCM Estratègies i Salut, S.L.

A company under suspicion

CCM Estratègies i Salut, S.L., owned by the accused Carles Manté, was the beneficiary company of these contracts that, according to the auditor, should have gone through more transparent and competitive procedures.

The lack of publicity and direct contracting indicate a possible violation of the rules governing public contracts in Tarragona and Catalonia.

Impact and reactions

The case has generated controversy in Tarragona, where the management of public resources and the involvement of those responsible are being questioned.

Official sources have not made public statements, but the investigation remains open even though the leaked details already reveal serious irregularities.

Details of the procedure and legal implications

The Public Administration Contracts Law

Royal Decree 2/2000 clearly sets the requirements for contracting with public entities, including the need to guarantee transparency, publicity, and solvency of companies.

Ignoring these steps can lead to legal sanctions and contract annulments, as well as a loss of institutional trust.

The next steps in the investigation

The court instructing the case is now examining the evidence presented and the statements of the accused to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities.

The intervention of the justice system and the expert reports will be key to deciding whether to maintain the case against Manté, Prat, and others involved.

Things do not look good for those who overlooked what any minimally attentive official would have known: contracting is neither a game among friends nor favors.

The former mayor of Reus, Carles Pellicer, has not been able to be located to testify as a witness in the Innova case in Tarragona.

The Tarragona Court has encountered a surprising gap: they have not located Carles Pellicer to make him testify. The judge admits that they only have an email address and that the hope of him showing up is almost nil.

The appointment was this Thursday at noon, but the former mayor of Reus has given no sign of life. This lack of location highlights a disorder that many may have already suspected: even institutions do not take seriously sending key notifications.

The failed attempt to locate the former mayor

The summons and the difficulties

Carles Pellicer was summoned to the Tarragona Court to testify as a witness in the Innova case, a trial that holds the attention of Catalan society.

But before the scheduled time, the magistrate announced that Pellicer had not been located. The only data provided for communication is an email, which at this point seems insufficient to guarantee his presence.

The judge’s response

The magistrate has explained that they do not know if Pellicer received or read the email informing him of the summons.

He added that the expectation that the former mayor will appear is very low. The situation raises questions beyond the case, about the effectiveness of official channels.

The context of the Innova case and Pellicer’s role

What is the Innova case?

The Innova case is a judicial process investigating alleged fraud and mismanagement linked to projects in Reus and its surroundings.

The testimony of key witnesses, such as former mayor Carles Pellicer, is essential to advance the investigation.

Pellicer and his relevance

As former mayor, Pellicer has a key role in clarifying the facts under suspicion.

His absence from the testimony creates a gap that may affect the pace of the trial and the public perception of the process.

The implications and the immediate future

What happens now with the testimony?

The Tarragona Court will have to decide how to proceed given the impossibility of making Pellicer appear as a witness.

The next steps could include new summons or other legal measures to ensure his presence.

Reactions and expectations

The lack of location has amazed citizens and involved parties, who expected a more dynamic trial.

The situation puts on the table the difficulty some politicians have in facing judicial processes, and the need for more effective notification mechanisms.

In the end, justice in Tarragona is left with a question that seems closer to fiction than reality: how can a former mayor disappear when he has to testify?

Reus expands the use of bollards to more streets. Find out where, when, and how to request access permits.

Mobility in Reus changes again with the expansion of the bollard system. This measure affects new streets and modifies schedules that residents need to know to avoid fines.

The Reus Urban Guard announced this expansion on June 9, 2026, which is already active. Permits to access regulated streets must be requested according to the new parameters published on the official website.

Which streets are incorporated into the bollard system?

New areas: affected zones and neighborhoods

The bollard regulation is not limited to a single point in the city. It expands to several streets that previously did not have this restriction.

Impact on residents and visitors

Access limited at specific times.

Without authorization, the bollard cannot be passed.

Facilitated access for residents and emergency services.

Schedules and regulation: when does the system operate?

Specific time slots

These schedules may vary depending on the street and the needs of each area. Therefore, consulting official information is key to avoiding misunderstandings.

Practical advice to avoid fines

Always check the updated schedules.

Request authorization if entry is needed outside the permitted period.

Pay attention to local signage and notices.

How to request access permits?

Application process

The process is online and requires providing personal data and justification of the need for access.

Documentation and deadlines

Required documentation includes identification and, if applicable, proof of residence or professional activity in the area.

Permits have limited validity and must be renewed to maintain access rights.

The Urban Guard reminds that circulating without permission may result in fines and other administrative sanctions.

If you have not yet informed yourself, the official website reus.cat/serveis/sistema-de-… offers all updated information and instructions to process permits.

The city wants to take a further step toward orderly mobility, but not everyone sees it the same way.

Reus inaugurates a Gaudí sculpture at Fossar Vell: bronze and stone to honor the architect with an unprecedented project.

A new work of art rises at the Fossar Vell of Reus to remember Antoni Gaudí with a 1.9-meter bronze figure. This sculpture shows the architect in a creative moment, modeling the facade of the Sanctuary of Mercy, a project never completed.

Reus, a city that never stops claiming the roots of its heritage, now presents a piece that unites history, art, and local memory at the foot of the bell tower of the Prioral de Sant Pere.

The sculpture and its context in Reus

Who is the author and what is his significance?

Joan Serramià, a sculptor of recognized prestige, signs this work that goes beyond a simple monument. His ability to capture the essence of Gaudí brings to life a figure that seems moved before the plaster, representing the moment of inspiration and unfinished project.

Where is it located exactly and why is it important?

The Fossar Vell, right at the foot of the bell tower of the Prioral de Sant Pere, is not just any place. This space is a nerve center of Reus, and placing the sculpture there makes Gaudí’s figure an active part of the daily life of the city and its inhabitants.

Technical and artistic details of the sculpture

What are the material characteristics of the piece?

The work consists of two pieces: a 1.9-meter-high bronze figure and a stone base. This combination adds weight and solemnity to the whole, creating a dialogue between the modernity of bronze and the solidity of stone, elements that resonate with Gaudí’s own architecture.

Which local artisans participated in its realization?

Stonecutter Joan Mateu has been key in shaping the stone base, while the Ginfer foundry contributed to the execution of the bronze. This local collaboration adds human value and closeness to the piece, reflecting the city’s involvement in preserving the memory of its illustrious son.

The project and its promotion

Who has driven the creation of the sculpture?

The Association Friends of Gaudí of Reus has been the soul behind the initiative, placing the city at the center of a cultural claim that recovers lesser-known episodes of the architect’s life.

What importance does it have for the local community?

This sculpture is not only a tribute but also a source of pride for Reus. It represents the link between past and present, inviting neighbors and visitors to view Gaudí with a new perspective, more human and close.

The reality is that this new piece at Fossar Vell will not go unnoticed. Its artistic and symbolic value strengthens the identity of Reus while provoking curiosity and conversation among the people who walk through the historic center.

Reus premieres a giant mural dedicated to Gaudí that combines urban art and digital technology to discover the legacy of the architect from Reus.

A giant mural now adorns the facade of the rectory of Sant Joan Baptista in Reus. This work is not just paint: it is a vibrant tribute to Antoni Gaudí, a universal figure who was born in the city and now returns home with renewed strength.

Standing 21 meters tall and covering nearly 140 square meters, the mural "Gaudí, from Reus to the world" is surprising not only for its size but also for the unique combination of urban art and digital technology that promises to captivate everyone who approaches it.

The mural: details and meaning

Artist and institutional support

The person responsible for this project is Jonatan Carranza, known as Sojo, a muralist and architect who has contributed his talent to the work. The initiative was driven by the Association of Friends of Gaudí of Reus with the support of the Reus City Council, the Tarragona Provincial Council, the Parish of Sant Joan Baptista, and various local companies. The inauguration ceremony featured notable attendees, including Mayor Sandra Guaita and institutional and cultural representatives.

Iconography and tribute to Gaudí

The mural represents different elements linked to Gaudí’s life and work, reinforcing the architect’s presence in the city that saw his birth. With a title as clear as it is evocative, "Gaudí, from Reus to the world," the work conveys the universal dimension of his legacy and the connection to his native city.

Integrated digital innovation

Second phase with interactive content

But the story doesn’t end here. In October, a second phase will be added that will bring the mural into the digital age. Artist Gala Mirissa will develop interactive digital content accessible via QR code. This will allow visitors to access 2D and 3D animations providing a visual and educational journey through Gaudí’s creative universe.

An experience beyond painting

With this innovative approach, the mural becomes a living, dynamic, and accessible element inviting discovery of Gaudí from a modern and technological perspective, moving away from a simple static memory and becoming a meeting point between art and interactivity.

Context and cultural projection

Gaudí Year 2026 in Reus

This intervention is one of the key actions in the Gaudí Year 2026 program, which commemorates the centenary of the architect’s death. The year is full of cultural, educational, and heritage activities that bring Gaudí closer to the public and strengthen his bond with his hometown.

Reus, city of Gaudí

With this initiative, Reus not only adds a new public space dedicated to Gaudí but also consolidates itself as a reference in preserving and projecting the legacy of the Reus genius. The city thus demonstrates that culture and technology can work hand in hand to offer innovative and enriching experiences to its residents and visitors.
